Today, on the death anniversary of 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐕𝐢𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐚 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐚, we bow our heads in reverence to his supreme sacrifice.
Major Thapa, remembered as the hero of the 1962 Indo-China war, showed unmatched courage in the face of overwhelming odds. Commanding a small post at Sirijap in Ladakh, he and his men stood firm against repeated enemy attacks. Even when surrounded, Major Thapa fought valiantly, setting an immortal example of bravery, leadership, and love for the motherland.
His indomitable spirit and devotion to duty continue to inspire generations of Indians and remind us of the price of freedom and the courage it demands.
On this solemn occasion, let us honor his memory by pledging ourselves to the values of patriotism, unity, and service to the nation.

Sharing with pride the historic words of our beloved 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐚𝐣𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐛𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡 𝐉𝐢, who graced and blessed the 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 of the All India Shaheed Durga Mal Dal Bahadur Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament in 𝟏𝟗𝟖𝟗.
His encouraging message continues to inspire us even today, as we carry forward this legacy to honour the supreme sacrifice of our martyrs, Shaheed Maj. Durga Malla and Shaheed Capt. Dal Bahadur Thapa.
The journey that began in 1989 with his blessings has now grown into a tradition of patriotism, sportsmanship, and unity.

Major Durga Malla (1 July 1913 – 25 August 1944) was the first Gorkha soldier of the Indian National Army (INA) to sacrifice his life for India’s freedom.

The 1st Shaheed Durga Mal Dal Bahadur Memorial Football Tournament, Kangra was held from 3rd to 7th May, 1989 at Police Ground, Dharamshala.
It was jointly organised by the District Football Association, Kangra, and Gorkha Yuva Sangathan, Bhagsu-Dharamshala. 🙌
A historic beginning of a legacy that continues to inspire football in our region! 💙⚽
