*DHS Jammu Conducts Comprehensive Inspection of CHC Thathri to Strengthen Healthcare Services*

Doda, February 14:-

In order to assess the ground level implementation of healthcare programmes and strengthen service delivery in remote and far-flung areas, Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, today conducted a comprehensive visit to CHC Thathri in District Doda. The visit was aimed at reviewing the quality of patient care, infrastructure, availability of essential services, and overall functioning of the healthcare institution to ensure better healthcare access to the public.

During his visit, the Director inspected all sections of the hospital and thoroughly reviewed the functioning of various units and the healthcare services being provided to patients. He assessed the availability of facilities, patient care services, and overall hospital management.

On the occasion, the DHS Jammu interacted with patients and their attendants to obtain firsthand feedback regarding the services being delivered at the institution. He also held a detailed interaction with the on-duty staff and emphasized the importance of dedication, punctuality, and teamwork to ensure quality healthcare services to the people visiting CHC Thathri for treatment.

Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr. Tanveer A. Rather, and Block Medical Officer Thathri, Dr. Shakeel A. Kichloo, were also present on the occasion. They briefed the Director about the functioning, achievements, and challenges of CHC Thathri.

Later, the DHS Jammu convened a meeting with the staff of CHC Thathri, where he patiently listened to the grievances put forth by them. He directed the staff to work in an amicable and coordinated manner for the betterment of healthcare services and to maintain a patient-centric approach in all their activities.

The visit reaffirmed the commitment of the Health Department to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure improved patient care across the district.

*IDSP Training for PRIs & Healthcare Workers Held at Doda*

DODA, February 14:

A one day Capacity Building Training cm Sensitization Programme for Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Healthcare Workers on the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) was organized at Govt Nursing College Doda on 14-02-2026.

The programme was organized by the District Surveillance Unit (IDSP) Doda, under the banner of the District Health Society, Doda.

The aim of the programme was to strengthen disease surveillance at the grassroots level by enhancing coordination between PRIs and the Health Department, ensuring early detection of unusual health events, timely reporting, rapid response to outbreaks, and effective implementation of IDSP across the district.

The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Doda, Sh. Dhananter Singh Kotwal, Vice Chairperson DDC Doda, Ms. Sangeeta Bhagat, Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather & BMO Ghat Dr Abdul Gafoor.

The event was attended by DDC Members, former Chairman/ Vice Chairman MC Doda, former BDC Chairpersons, former Sarpanches, former Ward Members of Municipal Committees, besides ASHAs and ASHA Facilitators from various medical blocks of the district.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by CMO Doda, Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather, who briefed the participants about the objectives and importance of IDSP in strengthening public health surveillance and community participation.

The technical sessions were conducted by Dr. Nasir Masood Indrabi, Dr. Sonali Gupta, and Mr. Umar Anayat (Epidemiologist), who delivered detailed lectures on outbreak preparedness and response, community-based surveillance, reporting mechanisms, data management, and the critical role of PRIs and healthcare workers in early warning and public health action

Addressing the gathering, Chairman DDC Doda, Sh. Dhananter Singh Kotwal, appreciated the efforts of the Health Department in organizing such a significant programme. He emphasized that PRIs play a crucial role as a bridge between the administration and the community and assured full support in strengthening disease surveillance and public health initiatives.

Similarly, Vice Chairperson DDC Doda, Ms. Sangeeta Bhagat, highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding public health. She urged PRI members and healthcare workers to work in close coordination for effective disease prevention and awareness at the grassroots level.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Mr. Faizan A. Tramboo, who performed the role of Stage Secretary and ensured smooth coordination throughout the event.

Awareness Meeting on Menstrual Hygiene Held at Trauma Hospital Khellani

Assar, February 12:-

Block Medical Officer Assar, Dr. Syed Mohd Ismail, chaired a meeting of ASHA Facilitators and ASHAs of Block Assar focusing on Menstrual Hygiene Awareness, at Trauma Hospital Khellani on 12-02-2026.

The meeting aimed at strengthening awareness and improving community-level sensitization regarding menstrual hygiene practices, especially among adolescent girls and women. Dr. Syed Mohd Ismail emphasized the importance of promoting safe and hygienic menstrual practices and encouraged frontline health workers to actively spread awareness in their respective areas.

The training session was also attended by Dr. Anil Thakur, who also sensitized the participants on various aspects of menstrual hygiene, including health implications, myths and misconceptions, and the importance of proper sanitation and disposal practices.

The participants actively engaged in the session and reiterated their commitment to spreading awareness at the grassroots level.

DODA, February 12:

A one-day Capacity Building Training-cum-Sensitization programme for healthcare workers of District Doda on the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) was held at Govt. Nursing College Doda, on 12-02-2026.

The training programme was organized by the District Surveillance Unit (IDSP), Doda, under the banner of the District Health Society, Doda, with the objective of strengthening disease surveillance and response mechanisms at all levels.

The programme was graced by the presence of the Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather, and was attended by healthcare workers from various cadres, including MLHPs, Laboratory Technicians, MMPHWs, FMPHWs, ASHA Facilitators, Pharmacists, and ASHAs from all medical blocks of the district.

The training was aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of healthcare workers in areas such as early disease detection, timely reporting, prompt intervention, and effective implementation of IDSP activities at peripheral as well as institutional
levels.

The programme was conducted in multiple sessions. The welcome session was addressed by CMO Doda Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather, who briefed the participants about the objectives and importance of IDSP in public health surveillance.

Subsequently, technical sessions on various IDSP-related topics were conducted by Dr. Safia Khan (Associate Professor Deptt. Of Microbiology GMC Doda, Dr. Sumat-ul-Khurshid (HOD Deptt. Of Pathology GMC Doda), Dr Abdul Gafoor (BMO Ghat) Dr Nasir Masood Indrabi, Mr. Umar Anayat (Epidemiologist), who shared their expertise and practical insights with the participants.

An interactive question and-answer session was also held, enabling participants to clarify their doubts and discuss field-level challenges related to disease surveillance and reporting.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Mr. Faizan A. Tramboo, who ensured smooth coordination throughout the event.

The programme concluded with a strong emphasis on coordinated efforts and active participation of healthcare workers to ensure effective implementation of IDSP across the district.

*MMU Health Check-up Camps Held at Villages Drudhu & Lelote*

DODA, February 11:

With the aim of providing quality healthcare services at the doorsteps of the people, Health Check-up Camps under the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) were organized at Village Drudhu, Bhaderwah, and Village Lelote, Assar, in District Doda.

The camps were organized on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Doda, Sh. Harvinder Singh (IAS), under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather, and under the overall supervision of the Block Medical Officers of Bhaderwah and Assar.

At Village Drudhu, the health team was led by Dr. Anil Khajuria, assisted by other health officials and MMU staff, and around 70 patients were screened for various ailments.

At Village Lelote, the camp witnessed the participation of around 80 patients, who were examined aind provided necessary medical care.

On the occasion, free medicines were distributed among all beneficiaries. In addition, health awareness was imparted to the patients, focusing on disease prevention, healthy lifestyle practices, and the importance of timely medical consultation.

*DC Doda Reviews Performance of Health Department Sectors*

Doda, February 10:- Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, Sh. Harvinder Singh, IAS, today chaired a review meeting of the Health Department sectors at Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, Doda.

The meeting was convened to assess the overall performance of the Health Department, review the progress of ongoing schemes and examine the utilisation of funds across various health-related components in the district.

During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on all key health indicators, with a special focus on improving service delivery, strengthening primary healthcare institutions and ensuring better health outcomes for the public.

The Deputy Commissioner Doda conducted a sector-wise review and sought updates on achievements, existing gaps and challenges faced during implementation.

The Deputy Commissioner Doda stressed the need for optimal utilisation of funds, timely completion of works and strict adherence to prescribed guidelines. He directed the concerned officers to adopt a result-oriented approach, strengthen monitoring mechanisms and promptly address bottlenecks hampering progress.

The agenda of the meeting also included a thorough review of the National Health Mission (NHM), TB Mukt Panchayats, developmental works under District Capex and UT Capex, Nikshay Poshan Yojana, Vaya Vandana Scheme and the implementation status of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS).

Officers briefed the DC Doda on the physical and financial progress of ongoing works, along with timelines for completion.

Emphasising accountability and inter-departmental coordination, the Deputy Commissioner Doda urged the Health Department to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the grassroots level, particularly in remote and underserved areas of the district.

The meeting was attended by the CPO Doda, CMO, SE PWD (R&B) Circle Doda, BMOs, concerned doctors, officials, AEEs and JEs.
