*DHO Doda Reviews Functioning of NVBDCP, Stresses Micro-Planning and Field Intensification*

To review the functioning of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) in the district, District Health Officer Doda, Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma chaired a meeting of Malaria staff and field functionaries at his office chamber here today, on 10-04-2026.

At the outset, the Malaria staff presented indicator wise progress and highlighted various activities carried out under the NVBDCP across the district. The meeting focused on reviewing surveillance activities, preventive measures, awareness campaigns and field level interventions undertaken to control vector borne diseases.

After a detailed review of the progress, the DHO impressed upon all concerned staff to devise a comprehensive micro-plan followed by a structured tour plan to further intensify activities under the programme. He emphasized strengthening surveillance, ensuring timely reporting, enhancing community awareness, and improving field monitoring to achieve better outcomes.

Dr. Sharma also stressed the importance of coordinated efforts, regular field visits and close monitoring to ensure effective implementation of the programme and prevention of vector-borne diseases in the district.

The meeting was attended by Malaria Inspector, JHIs, BHWs and other field functionaries associated with the programme.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from all participants to further strengthen the implementation of NVBDCP and ensure improved public health outcomes across District Doda.

Under the guidance of CMO Doda Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather and supervision of BMO Thathri Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Kichloo, Pradhan Mantri Suraksh*t Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) was conducted at CHC Thathri on 09-04-2026.

The initiative aimed at providing comprehensive antenatal care services to pregnant women, ensuring early detection and management of high-risk pregnancies and promoting safe motherhood practices.

During the programme, pregnant women were provided with detailed health check-ups, blood pressure monitoring, haemoglobin testing, and necessary laboratory investigations. Medical officers and healthcare staff also offered counselling on nutrition, institutional delivery, birth preparedness and awareness regarding danger signs during pregnancy.

On this occasion, free medicines and supplements were also distributed as per guidelines.

The PMSMA activities witnessed active participation from medical and paramedical staff across the block, reaffirming the commitment of the Health Department towards strengthening maternal healthcare services and ensuring safe pregnancy outcomes.

Under the guidance of CMO Doda Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather and supervision of BMO Bhaderwah Dr. Versha Sharma, a health camp under the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) was organized at Village Kholra of Medical Block Bhaderwah on 08-04-2026.

The camp was aimed at providing essential healthcare services at the doorstep of the people, particularly in remote and underserved areas, and ensuring early detection and management of common health conditions.

Around 50 patients availed the healthcare services during the camp. A wide range of services including general health check-ups, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, distribution of free medicines, and health counselling were provided to the beneficiaries.

The camp was headed by Dr. Rahat Goni (MO RBSK) and was assisted by local health staff along with the MMU team from CMO Office Doda, ensuring smooth and effective conduct of the camp.

The team also conducted awareness sessions on preventive healthcare, personal hygiene, and lifestyle modifications to promote overall well-being among the local population.

The initiative received a positive response from the residents, who appreciated the efforts of the Health Department for bringing quality healthcare services closer to their doorsteps.

Under the esteemed guidance of SDM Thathri Sh Sheetal Sharma (JKAS), an inspection drive was conducted on 08-04-2026 in Thathri market by Tehsildar Thathri Sh Satish Rana, BMO Thathri Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Kichloo, and SHO Sh Sandeep Parihar.

During the drive, various clinical establishments and medical shops in Thathri market were thoroughly inspected to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Clinical Establishments Act and other applicable regulatory norms. The inspection focused on ensuring that healthcare facilities adhere to prescribed standards for quality and patient safety.

Special emphasis was laid on maintenance of proper records, display of valid licenses, adherence to hygiene standards, and proper storage of medicines as per guidelines. The inspecting team also reviewed operational practices to ensure that all establishments function in accordance with regulatory requirements.

During the inspection, necessary instructions were issued on the spot to concerned stakeholders for rectification of deficiencies wherever observed. The establishments were directed to ensure strict compliance with established norms in the interest of public health and patient safety.

The drive was conducted as part of ongoing efforts by the administration and health department to strengthen regulatory oversight and ensure quality healthcare services for the general public.

*Multiple Health Camps Organized Under MMU in Medical Block Bhaderwah*

Under the guidance of Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather and supervision of BMO Bhaderwah Dr. Versha Sharma, multiple health camps under the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) were organized in different areas of Medical Block Bhaderwah, District Doda.

The camps were aimed at providing essential healthcare services at the doorstep of the people, particularly in remote and underserved areas, and to ensure early detection and management of common health conditions.

The camps were conducted at Bona Choundri and Dandi Bhaderwah, where a large number of beneficiaries availed the services.

At Bona Choundri, around 80 patients availed the healthcare services. The camp offered a wide range of services including general health check-ups, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, distribution of free medicines, and health counselling. The camp was attended by Dr. Kamaldeep Singh, Dr. Muneeza Iqbal, Dr. Ashish Sharma, Mrs. Asia Beg, Smt. Asha Devi along with local ASHAs of the area, who actively participated in the successful conduct of the camp. The team also delivered awareness on preventive healthcare, personal hygiene, and lifestyle modifications to promote overall well-being.

Similarly, at Dandi Bhaderwah, 56 patients were screened for various health conditions and provided necessary treatment and referrals wherever required. The camp was headed by Dr. Rajeev (MLHP). The initiative received a positive response from the local population, who appreciated the efforts of the Health Department for bringing healthcare services closer to their doorsteps.

Both the camps were assisted by the MMU team from CMO Doda, ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the outreach activities.

The camps witnessed active participation of medical and paramedical staff, reaffirming the department’s commitment towards strengthening outreach healthcare services in remote areas.

*Screening Camp Organized at Green Model HSS Doda on World Health Day*

On the occasion of World Health Day and with an aim to ensure the well being of students, a health screening camp was organized by Health Department Block Ghat at Green Model Higher Secondary School Doda on 07-04-2026.

A dedicated medical team from Block Ghat, under the guidance of BMO Ghat Dr. Abdul Gafoor, conducted the screening camp. The team comprised Dr. Nusrat Mumtaz (MO RBSK), Dr. Madiha Arjumand (MO RBSK), Ms. Rukhsana Banoo (FMPHW), Mrs. Zahida Begum (FMPHW), and Mr. Waqar Natnoo (Phst), who provided their services during the camp.

During the camp, dozens of students were screened for general health check ups. In addition, haemoglobin (Hb) screening was also conducted to assess the nutritional and health status of the students. The health team also delivered an awareness lecture on personal hygiene, healthy lifestyle practices, and preventive healthcare measures.

Sh. O. P. Chandail, Director of the school, appreciated the initiative and thanked the Health Department for organizing the screening camp and extending healthcare services to the students.

The camp concluded with a commitment to continue such initiatives for promoting student health and creating awareness about preventive healthcare.

*Plantation Drive Held at PHC Assar to Promote Environmental Sustainability*

On the directions of Worthy Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, and under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Rather, a plantation drive was conducted at PHC Assar on 07-04-2026 under the supervision of Dr. Syed Mohd Ismail.

The plantation drive was organized with the objective of promoting environmental sustainability and ensuring the effective implementation of the green initiative across healthcare institutions.

During the campaign, saplings were planted within the hospital premises to enhance greenery, improve air quality, and create a clean, healthy, and eco-friendly environment for patients and healthcare workers.

The activity witnessed enthusiastic participation from Medical Officers, paramedical staff, and other healthcare workers of the facility, who actively contributed towards the initiative.

The drive also aimed to sensitize healthcare staff and the general public about the importance of environmental conservation and collective responsibility in building a greener and healthier future.
