Ayurveda is practically applicable even today! We have to emphasize this fact on patient's mind.Patients get relief due to strongly believing, that they will get cured from his ailment by the certain doctor and Ayurveda. We have to encourage the patient whose mind has become weak. We, as ayurvedic physicians, should be able to enter his mind to elicit the root cause of his diseases.Only then correct treatment begins! In today's fast world, the most costly thing anybody can give anyone is 'time'!When a doctor gives required time to a patient to listen carefully to what he is saying, only then patient feels better!
Also,by giving time for a proper history taking, leads to correct diagnosis in most of the patients.Secondly,Signs and symptoms of patient should be carefully examined and interpreted to find out the pathology of disease.Only then correct clinical diagnosis and treatment can be started.Pathological reports should be clinically correlated.
Do's and Don'ts in diet and lifestyle need to be properly addressed,as the patient should know his responsibility in curing his disease and regaining his health!Doctor earns trust of patients over a period of time!

Law of karma governs one and all.We need to abide law of karma as far as possible,as it is the only way to lead a better life and have a chance of liberation i.e.moksha.

The concept of seasons as narrated by Ayurveda, has really been disturbed in the last few years everywhere in the world. In Cities like mumbai or its suburbs, winter season has almost lost its existence. Similarly monsoon too has lost its regularity and sustained monsoon for 4 months as it was some decades ago is a past history now. Thanks to global warming or unprecedented urbanisation, heat or summer has gained a lot of ground or time space ,if we think about the climatic conditions prevailing throughout the year. The excessive amount of construction going on in mumbai or its suburbs is really not allowing the rain water to be absorbed in the earth/soil,due to the fact that cement or concrete has replaced the earth or soil where the huge skyscrapers or towers are constructed, which are replacing some 3to 4 storied buildings which are going in redevelopment. Also tar roads and concrete roads are doing the same problem. The sun rays are obstructed from reaching ground and the wind is not able to circulate freely as it was previously able to do so due to the newly constructed towers. The number of people who buy flats in the upcoming towers and start to stay in the limited area of mumbai or its suburbs is causing increased density of population, increase in number of vehicles causing traffic jams, increase in demand for potable water supply and electricity, increase in rate of inflation due to increased density of population, due to which rate of demand is exceeding supply rate!Increase in air pollution caused by CO2 emission loads of two wheelers and four wheelers bought by new citizens in the same city.Chemical industries causing air and water pollution in midc close to residential zones of midc.Excessive amount of Air conditioning used in centralised air-conditioned offices in the newly constructed towers in the city.Heavily Crowded local trains, buses, metros, etc, at almost any time during the day even at night.Trees are losing their strength & sturdiness, because the rain water is unable to absorb in the earth, which are essential to maintain their strong roots. So a lots of trees become dangerous or tend to fall especially in the beginning of the monsoon, when winds flow with speed. The loads of garbage created by the increased number of citizens of the city, causes air pollution.Local bodies are unable to cope up with the processing of tons of plastic and other garbage produced in urban areas. Also,People don't practise good habits about recycling of organic and inorganic garbage, segregation of wet & dry garbage, inspite of new laws or notices issued by the local civil bodies, which are not able to strictly enforce them due to huge population explosion in city area, or the areas just outside the city limits.Law and order situation also comes under pressure due to increased population,as the number of police personnel doesn't increase in accordance with the rate of population growth.I think number of people migrating from all the states to cities like mumbai or suburbs should be restricted/ curbed, as it is really going to become impossible to provide basic facilities or needs for incoming people due to oversaturation or supersaturated population in mumbai and suburbs.I know that more or less this is the case with every city,eg pune, nasik, etc.or even in some cities in other states, but still it is very chaotic in mumbai, thane, pune. The high humidity factor in mumbai too adds to the problem of experiencing more heat. But one thing is for sure, that we are losing contact with mother nature and it's pure resources essential for maintaining our day to day health.Stress levels also increase due to densely populated cities,as there is a fierce competition for getting basic things of daily necessities. Probability of corruption increases in densely populated cities.Inspite of such a large amount of construction work going on for residential and commercial premises, rates of real estate don't decrease. This is due to fact that the cost of construction of the towers, is recovered by selling some flats in a tower,so the developers are in no hurry to sell remaining flats or shops till they meet their demands. The new method of not using red bricks while constructing a building (or using cement blocks instead) or multistoreyed towers, should be examined or studied for durability of the structure or its longevity. Also, French windows in every room which cuts the need for constructing either one or two walls in each room. I suppose that a lot of stress, and other factors which I mentioned above are affecting health of people in cities like mumbai or its suburbs! In addition to that,Wrong Food habits, high sedentary life style due to work from home, for some people, lack of regular exercise, not getting fresh oxygen rich, pollution free air for breathing, shortage of pure potable water, etc are other factors affecting health of citizens in cities like mumbai. De-centralisation of population is required, but who can identify and solve such important issue amicably for all?

It is middle of june now.Still monsoon has not arrived in mumbai as yet. This year we experienced severe summer in mumbai and suburbs, since middle of march month. To counter this extremely hot summer, almost 90%of middle class people installed atleast two airconditioners in their homes.IT companies,Corporate Offices, banks, etc are mostly air-conditioned in mumbai. Many of the people who were commute in AC cars or rental AC cars,AC local trains,AC buses,in mumbai. But beware that AC prevents or supresses sweating which is dangerous as it doesn't allow the body to cool plus makes it dry.But the most dangerous part was faced by people who have to enter AC offices and come out in heat frequently. This causes sudden change in temperatures,as the body can't adjust to extreme differences of temperature quickly. This can causes a lot diseases like allergic urticaria, boils, etc. including sunstroke.A lot of people including children, & geriatric people experienced dehydration like symtoms due to water loss due to excessive sweating. They have to drink water with electral powder or any other O.R.S.formula or even one can Create it at home by adding pinch of salt,1tsp sugar to a glass of water, stirr it properly and drink it.One should avoid working in summer heat as far as possible.Plus heavy exercise or a lot of physical activity should be avoided.Dont drink fridge cold water, cold drinks or don't eat Ice cream especially after coming home from outside heat.Instead allow the body to cool for sometime in a non ac room with fan.Dont eat spicy and pungent (tikha)and fried food in excessive quantity or rather eat them sparingly in such severe summer. We can drink water kept in earthen pot.We can drink sharbat prepared using khus, chandan, avala.we can even apply chandan on our palms & soles to reduce heat.We should apply coconut oil on our head in the morning after drying our hair after bath and apply coconut oil to our feet-soles at night. We should use white colored suncaps or even umbrella to avoid direct scorching sun heat.We should use pure cotton(100%) clothes. We should avoid tight fitting jeans or clothes made by using polyester/nylon fabrics. We should eat food which is light or easy to digest especially at night/supper time.We should have early supper and sleep early, not staying awake for longtime at night. We should avoid methi, karela, groundnuts, gavar, drumstick, tomatoes or simla mirchi, chinese food preparations. We should use light colored mirchi while cooking dal or vegetables.People who have pitta prakruti (Constitution)should follow the above rules strictly as they already have more heat in their body, than people of vaat or kapha prakruti! People should drink ample quantity of water but not during meals or eating, especially those who work in heat throughout the day.Tea and coffee can be reduced as even they cause body heat.We can learn and practise, body cooling pranayam like sheetali and sheetkari from some good experienced yoga institute.Lastly Let us all pray & hope that monsoon commences in a full fledged way asap so that the effects of this extended severe summer on our body are nullified!-Vd.Dhananjay Gadre,16.6.2022

Although the festival of Gudhi Padwa was just celebrated in a simple way in Maharashtra which marks the beginning of vasant rutu and the marathi new year,if we see the ongoing severity of heat ,it's intensity is like hot summer season in mid may! So,we have to take care, that we don't get dehydrated, for which we can drink water mixed with electral powder or similar O.R.S.formulae.We should avoid going out in afternoon or rather from 11 am to 5 pm if possible.Or if we still have to go at that time, then, we should use white sun cap,or umbrella to save us from direct sun heat, which may cause sunstroke. We should eat Gulkand,or Sharbats made from Avala, Khus, chandan, Audumbar jal, etc. We have to avoid fried, spicy, masala added, tikha and salty food in excess as they produce more heat in our body.We should have early dinner or rather supper. We should not do heavy exercise .We should do yoga and pranayam and daily chores of domestic work like cleaning the home, etc.on regular basis to keep us fit.We should eat food which is light to digest. We should preferably avoid Air conditioning and fridge cold water or aerated soft drinks or ice creams which are actually more harmful for health.Wish you all a happy summer and take care of your health!

Thanks to all for liking this page! As half of kartik month has passed and margasheersha month starts around mid December,we have already experiencing some change in climate. This is start of rutusandhi kaal. The severe sun heat in sharad rutu has reduced and it is especially cold in night after midnight or at dawn.In northern india, cold has already set in and in Southern india, it might be less.Ayurveda describes margasheersha and poush as hemanta rutu.In these months of winter, we feel more energetic and so we should do regular exercise to gain more strength.Suryanamaskaras ,yogasanas , pranayama must be done regularly. But one should not exceed his capacity more than half of his strength or stamina.sweating on forehead & increased rate of breathing are the signs that indicate we have used half of our physical capacity or strength.Exercise should be done early in the morning (5.30am)on empty stomach. We should do Abhyanga.i.e.whole body massage with Ayurveda oils like narayan tel, chandanbalalakshadi tel,or murchit teel tel before taking bath.We should apply coconut oil to our head (scalp),and put anu tel (2 drops)in our nostrils.in the morning(after drying the hair after bath)Similarly we should put warm coconut oil(3-4drops)in our ears, atleast once or twice a week.(please consult your doctor if you have any ear problem before doing this)We should have nutritious food (even heavy to digest food if the winter is severe.)food items like milk, ghee, curds,(non vegetarians can have eggs, nonveg,), sugarcaine juice, chapatis or parathas made from wheat, chanadal plus jaggery puran, urad dal items, coconut chutney or sweets, etcThls is to satisfy our increased hunger and digestive capacity. We should not sleep in afternoon.we should have early dinner (at around 7.30 pm)and sleep 3 hours after that. All these indications are for healthy & young or middle aged people. Those who are old or have chronic ailments should consult their doctor before implementing this advice. This period of winter is called 'visarga kaal' in Ayurveda.which means the nature bestows us with strength and vigour during this period. Therefore we should utilise it to build our strength and immunity. The next two months after hemanta rutu are called shishir rutu (cold increases more)and most of the diet and regimen is to be followed like hemanta rutu.Nowadays due to the global warming and climatic changes, there is irregularity in weather.so we should be vigilant and give more importance to prevaling weather conditions in our city or area, than merely following the seasons written in calendar.

Good morning! It is sharad rutu now and we are facing severe heat in the atmosphere.but at the same time, due to the effect of cyclone,it has been raining in many parts of Maharashtra.Sharad rutu is season of pitta prakopa. So a lot of pitta dosha related diseases can be seen happening . Eg.Headache, sunstroke, fever, boils, jaundice, mouth ulcers, epistaxis, etc can happen to people. For the prevention of such diseases, virechana (purgation therapy) & raktamokshana therapy(blood letting) are very good. These should be done under the supervision of a qualified Ayurveda Doctor.Medicines like chandrakala ras, paripathadi kadha, gulkand, praval pishti, kamdudha ras are effective for reducing pitta dosha (to be taken under supervision of qualified ayurvedic Doctor)It's better to avoid sunheat, especially in the afternoon.or wear white cap and sunglasses.sarbat/syrups prepared from chandan, avala, khus are good to reduce heat.Avoid eating very spicy, pungent, fried food items.Avoid groundnuts, pickles, curds, karela,Simla mirchi, drumstick, gavar, tomatoes, green chillies,as they tend to increase pitta dosha in the body.Desi cowmilk (A2) and ghee are very good for health in this season.Avoid afternoon sleep especially after lunch.Follow Ayurveda and maintain health,so that our immunity remains strong.
