Some stories are not just watched — they are felt. The power of thoughtful writing and sensitive direction often leaves us with overflowing tears or long moments of silence, because words alone cannot hold the depth of emotion. Watching Batt Koch was exactly that kind of experience. It is more than a film; it is a heartfelt attempt to express the long, unspoken journey of trauma that Kashmiri Pandits continue to carry even today. Beautifully crafted in our own regional language, it allowed families to sit together and witness a story that belongs to all of us — across generations.

The film gently yet powerfully captures the pain of separation from home, the strength of family bonds, the quiet hope of returning to our homeland one day, and the deep roots of our religion and traditions. It also reflects the distance that the younger generation sometimes feels from this past, while reminding us why these memories must never fade. What made the experience even more special was sitting among so many fellow Kashmiri Pandits — laughing together at the film’s warm, humorous moments and silently wiping away tears during the painful ones. In that shared space of emotion, it felt like our collective story was finally being spoken. I am deeply grateful that someone had the courage and vision to bring this story to life, and to do so in a way that our entire community could watch, feel, and remember together.
