SMU Fit-Fest 5.0 is now open!

SMU Fit-Fest 5.0 was officially inaugurated today at the Medical Campus, Tadong, Gangtok, marking the beginning of an exciting sports season (Feb–March 2026) filled with fitness, fun, and friendly competition!
The Fest was declared open by Dr. G. K. Prabhu, Vice Chancellor, SMU, in the presence of Dr. Muralidhar V. Pai, Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean, SMIMS; Dr. Karma Sonam Sherpa, Registrar, SMU; Ms. Rini Annie Samual, Head – Human Resources, SMU; and other officials and staff members.
A lively inaugural badminton doubles match set the tone for teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy rivalry.
As part of SMU’s employee engagement initiative, Fit-Fest 5.0 promotes wellness and camaraderie across departments. It is especially heartening to see enthusiastic participation this year, with a strong and inspiring presence of women employees. 💪🌟

ERGONOMIC AWARENESS SESSION REPORT


Venue: National Information Center

Date and Time: 15th September 2025, 2pm to 4:30 pm

Dr. Bishal Bista, Dr. Rahul Thakur, and Dr. Bidhya Bhattrai conducted an Ergonomic Awareness Session at the National Information Center on 15th September 2025. The session was organized to promote healthy workplace practices and educate employees on the importance of ergonomics in preventing musculoskeletal disorders and enhancing productivity.

The session began with a formal introduction of the speakers and an overview of the objectives of the awareness program. Participants were guided through various ergonomic principles including proper posture, workstation setup, and movement strategies to reduce strain and fatigue.

Interactive demonstrations were conducted to help attendees understand the correct use of office furniture and equipment. The doctors also addressed individual concerns and provided personal recommendations for improving ergonomic practices at work.

The session concluded with an Individual Assessment and group exercise for the staff of the National Information Center, marking a successful step towards healthier work environments.
