Happiness in Neurosurgery... is a Happy patient post Brain Surgery! And doubly so, when the patient is super grateful to be back to normal life, after he had already lost hope and resigned to a bedridden life..
He is a village elder, came to my OPD with loss of movement of one hand and leg... and it seemed that he had already resigned to his fate, and did not expect that he would improve. He was surprised when I told him that all he needed was a simple brain surgery ( burr hole craniectomy for SDH evacuation...the simplest of neurosurgical procedures) and that he would be able to walk again.
He was not very sure, but agreed to undergo the surgery.. he recovered movement in his affected hand and leg immediately post surgery.. and was super delighted to be back on his feet!
