This patient a 60 year old gentleman had severe Trigeminal neuralgia . ( a severe shooting shock pain on the face . )His MRI showed a tumour pressing on the Trigeminal nerve. The picture on the left shows the tumour on MRI . The pic on right is CT after tumour removal . Following the surgery he had complete relief of pain with no neurological deficit . Trigeminal neuralgia is also caused by an abnormal conflict between a blood vessel and nerve .in those cases we do micro vascular decompression which involves separating the nerve and the blood vessel with a Teflon patch

This patient a 28 year old boy had visual loss due to a Pitutary gland tumour pressing on the eye nerves . The visual loss is for peripheral vision . He had difficulty in seeing on the sides.This tumour was operated along with Dr Kapil Prabhudesai using endoscope through the nose . This endoscopic surgery is minimally invasive and the patient required no skull opening or nasal pack . He could be discharged within 3 days .His vision improved significantly immediately after surgery .We now have a large series of endoscopic Pitutary tumour surgery in Victor hospital Goa. Intra medullary spinal cord tumours are tumours which grow within the spinal cord and cause damage to it.
They are among the most risky neurosurgeries as the patient can get further neurological worsening after surgery . This patient was a 45 year old who presented to us with backache and paralysis in his lower limbs .He had an intramedullary spinal cord tumour which was completely removed using high magnification with the microscope , intraoperative neuro monitoring . Neuro monitoring is technology which helps to indicate if the spinal cord is getting damaged during surgery . Use of intraoperative ultrasound helped in indicating completeness of tumour removal .The patient has Made a good recovery and is able to walk independently.pic on left is before surgery .
