After wearing spectacles for 15 years with a power of -5, Rohit wanted a long-term solution.

Like most people, the question was simple:
“Is there a safe way to remove my glasses?”

After a detailed evaluation, SILK surgery was recommended as the most suitable option for his eyes.
- Procedure time: 15–20 minutes
- Recovery: within a week
- Result: clear vision, no dependency on glasses

The key takeaway? There is no one “best” surgery, only the right surgery for your eyes.

At Shroff Eye Centre, every treatment is based on personalised evaluation and precision care.

Most patients ask the same question: “Which is the best surgery to remove specs?”

The truth is there is no one-size-fits-all answer.
Procedures like PRK, LASIK, SILK, and ICL are not competing options.

They are different solutions for different eyes
The right choice depends on:
• your eye number
• corneal thickness and profile
• overall eye health
• lifestyle and visual needs

Just like one size doesn’t fit everyone, vision correction is always personalised.

A detailed evaluation is what determines the safest and most effective option for each patient.

Can you get LASIK after 45?

Short answer: Yes… but it’s not that simple.

As we age, a natural condition called presbyopia affects near vision, which means even after LASIK, you may still need reading glasses.

Here’s what you need to know:

• LASIK can correct distance vision
• Near vision changes after 40 are natural
• Reading glasses may still be needed
• Age-related changes (like early cataract) also matter
• Not everyone above 45 is an ideal LASIK candidate

At Shroff Eye Centre, every patient undergoes a detailed evaluation to determine the safest and most effective option.

LASIK is not a joke (memes aside)!

As an eye centre with a dedicated refractive surgery unit in Delhi, we do a thousands of vision correction surgeries like LASIK, SILK and ICL. We emphasise on aftercare after LASIK and explain everything in detail.

SO, It's quite frustrating when patients don't follow instructions after surgery even when it's repeated multiple times because they think LASIK is a minor procedure.

It's important to remember, these are surgeries at the end of the day and which are handling your cornea.

Water sports are to be avoided after LASIK or any refractive surgery like SILK, ICL, PRK for atleast a month. This is to allow full recovery of the eyes and prevent infections which can can affect healing and cause loss of vision.

Water sports can cause serious corneal infections as the the top layer of the cornea or epithelium is still healing. Corneal infections can be very difficult to treat and patients sometimes end up losing their eyesight.
Water sports can also irritate the eyes and exacerbate dry eye as your eyes come in contact with allergens in the water.

This is wht it's important to follow all LASIK aftercare instructions to ensure full recovery!

At Shroff Eye Centre, our team explains all post LASIK instructions calmly and clearly to you. You've to also come for three follow-ups after surgery to ensure optimal recovery. We also are easily contactable after surgery to care for your eyes.

Can you get LASIK after 45?

The answer isn’t a simple yes or no.

As we age, changes like presbyopia (the need for reading glasses) naturally develop. While LASIK can correct distance vision, many patients may still require glasses for near work.

In this video, we break down:

• Who is a suitable candidate for LASIK after 45
• Why you may still need reading glasses
• How age-related changes impact your vision
• What to realistically expect from laser vision correction

Making the right decision starts with understanding your eyes.
