🌸 Raksha Bandhan – A Vedic Bond 🌸
🕉 Vedic Roots – In Atharvaveda & Yajurveda, the Raksha Sutra is tied with mantras for protection, long life, and prosperity.
“Yena baddho Balee Raja Danavaindro Mahabalaha, Tena tvam abhibadhnami rakshamalaam suparam.” (AV 19.62)
Meaning: “I tie on you the same protective thread that was tied on King Bali, the great ruler among demons. May this protect you from harm and grant you strength.”
⚔ Legend of Indra & Indrani – Before battle, Indrani tied a protective thread on Indra’s wrist with sacred mantras, ensuring victory and safety.
🌿 Symbolism in Vedic Philosophy – The Raksha Sutra is a sankalpa (vow) of mutual protection—safeguarding not just the body, but also dharma (righteousness), harmony, and truth.
🤝 Beyond Brothers & Sisters – In Vedic times, this vow was shared between guru & disciple, husband & wife, king & subjects—any sacred relationship bound by duty.
💫 Today’s Festival – A sister ties the rakhi with prayers for her brother’s well-being; the brother vows to protect her—continuing the ancient tradition of love, duty, and divine blessings.
🌼 May this Raksha Bandhan bring strength, joy, and protection to all your sacred bonds. 🌼
