Indian Alliance of Patient Groups A network of patients advocacy organizations from throughout India, working collaboratively to improve access to health care services and supplies

The Indian Alliance of Patients' Groups (IAPG) was launched in November 2014 in New Delhi to bring together cross disease organizations on a common platform to work on common thematic areas such as access, quality and safety of healthcare. Such a platform will enable disease-specific organizations to maintain their independence while at the same time give a strong voice to support both government and private sector efforts to build a stronger, more accessible health care system that mutually benefits patients and healthcare providers throughout India. IAPG's proposed mission is to “facilitate and ensure a safe, effective, reliable patient-centred health system in India that provides timely access to the best available prevention options, treatments and diagnostics.”

As Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) Day dawns upon us, we, as the united voice of rare disease patients, are filled with a sense of purpose and determination. This day serves as a beacon of hope, rallying individuals, families, and communities to stand united in raising awareness about this often misunderstood and overlooked genetic rare disease.

NF1 affects approximately 1 in every 3000 to 5000 newborns worldwide, yet its prevalence does not always translate into widespread understanding or recognition. For those living with NF1 and their loved ones, the journey is marked by multifaceted challenges and uncertainties.

At the core of our advocacy lies a steadfast commitment to amplifying the voices of rare disease patients and their families. On NF1 Day, we celebrate the courage and strength of those facing NF1 head-on, navigating each day with determination and resilience. We honor the caregivers and allies who stand by their side, offering unwavering support and love. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to advocating for improved treatments, access to care, and support services for NF1 patients globally.
