It is one of the most widely used food additives and is added to several processed foods such as canned vegetables, condiments like ketchup, salad dressings, soups, soy sauce etc. But is it safe for you?
Well, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says MSG is “generally recognized as safe.” Still, MSG continues to be a controversial ingredient, in part due to a longstanding stigma against it even when there is no conclusive evidence. MSG might cause issues among those who are particularly sensitive to it. Even then, the symptoms are mild and usually disappear in less than an hour. In fact, these symptoms are more likely to occur if a sensitive individual consumes more than 3gms of MSG without food, which is very unlikely. Kefir (commonly pronounced as kephir) Grains are a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. Each strain of Kefir is unique. Based on the bacteria and yeast combination, some kefir may be more sour than tangy or the other way around. These white translucent looking grains are used to make milk based fermented drink (commonly knowns as Milk Kefir) or a water based fermented beverage (commonly called as water kefir). Both these beverages are excellent for your gut bacteria to promote overall health and well-being.
