Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya (SSDN), Guwahati, in collaboration with World Sight Foundation (WSF), UK, conducted a 3-day Ophthalmology Teaching Course for Primary Eye Care Practitioners between 20th and 22nd November 2025.
This Programme brought together an exceptional pool of ophthalmologists from the international arena as well as SSDN’s own in-house faculty (represented by Dr Damaris Magdalene, Senior Consultant at SSDN), to enhance skills of primary eye care practitioners in recognising, examining, and managing commonly encountered ocular conditions in both adults and children.
The faculty flew down to Guwahati from London, to train the primary eye care providers who had converged from various parts of the north-east to attend this programme.

From history-taking to hands-on clinical skilling, urgent referral cases, and a special session on diabetic retinopathy, the programme was crafted to empower practitioners with confidence, competence, and updated clinical insight. The event concluded successfully on 22nd November’25.
