Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in India, following cervical cancer. An Indian woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every four minutes.
Incidence:-
-Common in younger age groups.
-Nearly 50% of cases are in women aged 25-50.
-70% of cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, leading to poor survival rates and high mortality.
Poor Survival Rate Factors:
-Earlier age at onset
-Late-stage presentation
-Delayed initiation of definitive management
-Inadequate/fragmented treatment
Prevention:
-Self-breast examination for women under 40
-Mammography for women over 40.
