My article in today's edition of Sangbad Pratidin questions — do we really need a special diet for summer?
The short answer: No. Your body’s nutritional needs don’t change with the season. It’s also not about chasing so-called “cooling foods,” trendy detoxes, or relying on glucose drinks for quick energy fixes.

What actually matters? Getting the basics right:
✔ Stay well hydrated — drink enough water through the day
✔ Eat light, easily digestible meals but ensure they are balanced
✔ Pay close attention to food hygiene

It was an honour to be invited as a faculty member at the Annual National Conference of the Association of Diabetes Educators (ADE) India, in collaboration with the Nutrition Society of India (NSI) Mumbai Chapter, held last weekend (28th–29th March).

I had the opportunity to speak on “Carbohydrate Counting” on the 28th and “Lifestyle Intervention Strategies for Obesity Management” on the 29th.

Also had the privilege of chairing two insightful sessions: 1.“Gut Flora: Relationship with Diabetes and Obesity” by Ms. Niti Desai Ma'am and 2. “Is Negative Prescription an Effective Method in Diabetes Diet Prescription?” by Ms. Bhakti Samant

Two days of meaningful conversations and great learning experience. Grateful to Dr. Chandalia Sir, Dr. Udipi Ma'am, and the entire organizing committee of ADECON 2026 for the opportunity.

Catch me on Channel One Kolkata today's (4th March) episode of the talk show "Prescription" 10 p.m. onwards.

Catch me today at 4:30 PM on Zee Bangla Rannaghor

I have no claim to expertise in the craft of cooking whatsoever. As a nutritionist, my sole focus is on the healing potential of simple, everyday ingredients — and how to get the best nutritional value out of them. 🌿

Yet another important issue highlighted in today’s Anandabazar Patrika —Dietary exposure to heavy metals and associated health risks. Glad to share my inputs on this topic.
With increasing air, water, and soil pollution, heavy metals are steadily entering the food chain, raising serious concerns about the safety of even our most basic foods and drinking water. While we may not have complete control over the extent of exposure, a few simple precautionary measures can help mitigate the risks.
Appreciation to author Nabanita Dutta for bringing such critical food safety and public health issues to light and making the science easy to grasp.

Today’s Anandabazar Patrika carries an article by Nabanita Dutta based on an interview with me on the health impact of tandoor and charcoal/firewood-grilled food consumption.

Delhi has banned tandoors this winter to curb air pollution — but no, I’m not calling for a ban on Tandoori food. 😊
The idea is awareness, not alarm. While chronic smoke exposure (as in tandoor workers who inhale it directly) is a real concern, occasional consumption of these items in moderation is fine as a part of balanced diet and lifestyle.

On National Dietetics Day, it feels meaningful as a nutritionist to contribute to conversations that help people enjoy food safely and mindfully. All credit to the author for the thoughtful coverage.
