A chapter closes, but the legacy remains!

Today, we came together to bid a heartfelt farewell to our beloved Head of the Department, Dr. Dominic Leo, as he takes leave from the Social Work Department, DBC. It was a day not of goodbyes, but of gratitude—a day to pause, reflect, and honour the years of dedication, wisdom and heart that he has poured into this Department and into each one of us.

To our students—thank you for organizing such a meaningful and beautiful day. Every detail, every gesture, every moment reflected the love and respect you hold for Dr. Dominic. You made sure his journey with us was celebrated in the most special way. So proud of each one of you. 🤍

To our alumni—thank you for being there. Your presence spoke volumes. And to those who couldn't make it but sent in videos of gratitude, your words touched all of us. It was a beautiful reminder of the far-reaching impact of a teacher who gives his best.

Dr. Dominic, you have shaped not just a Department, but generations of social workers. Your leadership, kindness, and vision will continue to guide us. As you step into this new chapter, know that you take with you the deepest gratitude and warmest wishes of this entire BSW family.

With love, we remain BSW family! 🙏💫

And just like that, two batches, two milestones, one beautiful journey. ✨

The BSW VI Semester wrapped up their final fieldwork viva—their last as students of this department. Watching them present their journey with such confidence and depth reminded us why we do what we do. So grateful to play a small part in their big journeys. 🌱

And right beside them, the BSW IV Semester stepped up to complete their fieldwork viva too—halfway through, but already shining so bright. The growth, the stories, the passion—it's all coming together so beautifully. 💛

Meanwhile, our benjamins—the BSW II Semester—couldn't resist dropping by with their curious "What's happening?" energy, peeking into what awaits them. Future you is watching, little ones! 🌻

Here's to growth, to learning, and to the incredible journey of social work. Grateful for every single one of you.

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of one of our own, Jacob.

Jacob was a light in our department—a person whose kindness and vibrant energy touched every life he encountered. He had a rare gift for bringing people together, lifting spirits, and making everyone feel seen and valued. His passion for social work was only matched by the joy he found in his friends and classmates.

While words cannot express the grief we feel, we find solace in remembering the incredible person he was. His memory will forever be a blessing to the Social Work Department.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends and all who loved him.

Rest in Peace, Jacob. You will be deeply missed.

A day of insightful learning and stellar presentations! 👏

The Social Work Department at DBC successfully conducted the Fieldwork Viva-Voce for our III Semester BSW students on 18th November 2025.

A total of 15 students presented their Fieldwork experiences, demonstrating deep reflection and a strong commitment to the principles of Social Work.

We were immensely privileged to have Mr. Namthanduan Gonmei, Principal of S.S Garden of Knowledge, Naharlagun, as our esteemed External Examiner. His expert feedback and valuable insights were incredibly enriching for our students.

The session was also graced by the presence of our BSW First Semester students, who we hope were inspired by the work of their seniors. A special thanks to all the department faculty members for their guidance and support in making this event a success.

Here's to nurturing the next generation of Changeloomers! ✨

From Students to Mentors! 📚✨

What a full-circle moment for the Social Work Department at Don Bosco College, Itanagar! We had the immense pleasure of welcoming back two of our stellar alumni from the second and third batches.

On November 17, our first-semester students gained priceless insights during a candid interaction where our alumna, Ms. Yura Chumna, shared her real-world experiences, challenges, and triumphs. The next day, Mr. Namthanduan Gonmei lent his expert eye as an external for our third-semester students' Fieldwork Viva-Voce.

It’s moments like these that strengthen our Changeloomers bond and show our current students the incredible heights they can achieve. A huge thank you to our alumni for their time, wisdom and for being such brilliant role models!

The Don Bosco legacy continues to grow, one inspiring social worker at a time.

Learning in action! 📚✨

Our dynamic BSW students from Don Bosco College-Itanagar have began their Concurrent Fieldwork, taking their social work education beyond the classroom and into the heart of the community in and around Itanagar.

This hands-on experience is where theory meets reality. Our students are not just visiting; they are immersing themselves, learning directly from the people and the environment. Through this fieldwork, they are developing essential skills in community engagement, assessment, and empathy—the core of social work practice.

We are excited to see them grow into compassionate and effective change-makers!
