Unusual Condition that Generally not dealt by Physiotherapist, but very prevalent these days among many, is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (I.B.S.).
In lay-man term, it causes a disturbance in the normal functioning of our digestive system. The symptoms of this condition ranges from Gastritis to Bloating and Diarrhoea. Many patients sufferring with this may start avoiding food and beverages that they think or experience of aggravating the existing symptoms. Thus, they may face limitations in their choices of food and eventually affects their overall Quality of Life.
As mentioned by the patient in this video, He was sufferring from Bloating and Gastrtitis for Last 2 years. He was frustrated with his problem of indigestion as he suffered with Diarrhoea and Constipation alternately almost everyday. That affect terribly his routine as well as his professional life. He was residing in Kochi, Kerala at that time, and went to the Specialist Doctor, Gastroenterologist, then he underwent various investigations such as Ultrasonography and Colonoscopy. But the reports were normal. So, he was prescribed with medications like Antidepressant and Broad Spectrum Antibiotics that too didn't cure his symptoms.
For last 8-10 months, he has settled back to his home town Jamnagar, Gujarat. He had been managing his life by accepting his condition that hasn't responded significantly with medications taking for long time.
A month ago, he came with his cousin who was taking treatment for a facial palsy with me, and explained about his problem (I.B.S.) and asked me that is there any treatment for the same available in Physiotherapy?
After listening about his pattern of symptoms and the history of his problem, I decided to take this case as a challenge and started treating him after examination. Fortunately, he was getting improvement in his symptoms, significantly, within a couple of weeks and got 90% cured at present. He even started having beverages such as Tea, Coffee and Cold Drinks and Spicy food that He left earlier. I was glad that I have got an opportunity to cure such a medical condition where there is no specific treatment for it. Gratitude to the God.
