Diabetes can affect your eyes in several different ways. It can cause swelling of the center most part of your retina which is the macula leading to diabetic macular edema. Diabetic Retinopathy can be seen in patients with diabetes in case of uncontrolled or fluctuating sugar levels. Retina/ Fundus examination every 6 months is mandatory to detect retinal changes and prevent visual loss. Get your eyes examined in case you are a chronic or recently diagnosed diabetic.
