Kakinada District Aims to Become 100% Child Safe District

Child safety must be the highest and non-negotiable priority for any society.

On May 9, 2025, Assistant Collector of Kakinada District, Ms. Manisha IAS, visited the office of the Padala Charitable Trust (PCT). During her visit, the PCT team briefed her on the various initiatives currently being implementing now. The Swechha for Little Birds (SFLB) trainers presented a detailed overview of the SFLB program and its impact. Deeply moved and inspired, Ms. Manisha assured her full support, stating that she is committed to helping make Kakinada a 100% child-safe district.

About SFLB Program

The SFLB program, launched in September 2022, has already reached 46,000 children across Andhra Pradesh, including Kakinada, East Godavari, West Godavari, Konaseema, and Eluru Districts. It aims to create a child sexual abuse-free zone through personal safety education and community engagement.

SFLB Program Highlights:

• Target Group: Children in Grades 1–7

• Focus Areas:

o Safe/unsafe touch

o Personal safety rules

o Internet safety

o POCSO Act, 2012

• Community Involvement: Parents, teachers, and officials

• Training: Mandal-level master trainer workshops

Goal:

To reach 100,000 children in the next 2 years and ensure a safe, abuse-free environment in schools, homes, and communities.

Join us in empowering children and preventing child sexual abuse.

🌟 A small talk... made a big change! 🌟
During our hygiene awareness session in a school, something beautiful happened.
One brave girl stood up and spoke about the program we did earlier. She remembered everything and said, "We need dustbins in our school!"
Her voice was heard. The principal appreciated her courage and took immediate action — dustbins were placed all around the school! 🧼🗑️
Later, the principal shared with us, "Your session really worked. Students are asking the right things. Awareness is growing. Thank you!"
Moments like these show us that change starts with awareness and a little encouragement. ❤️
Let’s keep spreading this energy!
💬 What do you think about this moment? Have you seen such changes around you?

Empowering Futures: PCT's Year of Impact 2023-24

The Padala Charitable Trust (PCT) has made remarkable progress in 2023-24. We educated over 2400 girls about menstrual health and supported 391 single-parent and no-parent children. Key initiatives included the Vaaradhi Summer Camp, which offered diverse activities and workshops to foster growth and learning, and the Swechha program, which provided critical menstrual hygiene education.

Additionally, our School of Excellence program integrated life skills, career guidance, and adolescent health awareness, reaching over 1200 children in seven schools. Noteworthy collaborations with "It's from the Sole" and the Reliance Foundation amplified our impact. Scholarships worth over 30 lakhs were distributed to over 150 students, ensuring their academic futures.
