The first official interaction between the " " and the Medical Officer of Kannur district marks more than a meeting - it signals the beginning of a coordinated, action-driven movement to save lives.
With a thoughtfully designed session brought together clinical expertise, public health leadership, and hands-on training.
The capacity building Workshop on snakebite envenomation management for Medical Officers was inaugurated on 26-03-2026 by Prof. . Sairu Philip (Principal, ) under the leadership of Dr. Sachin K C (DMO, Kannur) emphasising the urgency of district-level preparedness.
Knowledge met practice through impactful sessions:
🔹 Dr. Jaideep C.Menon ( , Kochi) on snakebite envenomation & neurotoxic management
🔹 Dr. Manu Mathew (GMC Kannur) on snake identification & hematotoxic bite care
But what truly stood out?
👉 A hands-on ( ) training led by Dr. Madhavan, HOD, Emergency Medicine, where participants didn’t just learn, they practiced, responded, and prepared for real-life emergencies.
From first aid and transport protocols to primary care management, one message was clear:
Timely, skilled intervention can turn the tide between life and death.
This is what meaningful collaboration looks like, where institutions unite, knowledge is shared, and capacity is built with a single goal: Zero Snakebite Death Initiative.
Kannur has taken the first step. Many more to follow.
