Is your baby’s eye always watery? 🍼💧

In this video, we speak with Dr. Shanti Ger, a Pediatrician from Uluberia, Howrah, with over 25 years of experience! He addresses a common concern for new parents: Why do some babies have constantly watery eyes, and is it always an infection?

Dr. Shanti explains that while we often jump to the conclusion of an "eye infection," the cause is usually related to the Lacrimal Gland.

What you need to know about Lacrimal Glands: Think of the lacrimal gland as a "tear factory" located above the eye. It produces fluid to keep the eye clean and healthy. In newborns, the tiny "drainage pipes" (tear ducts) that carry these tears away are often very narrow or even blocked. When the tears can't drain properly, they pool up, making the eye look wet or "watery" all the time.

As Dr. Shanti mentions, it's often a simple obstruction rather than a medical infection! 🩺✨
