BURPING:

A vital component of your baby's feeding regimen is burping them. Air bubbles might get stuck in the stomach of your baby when swallowing and cause discomfort. By burping, your infant can ease some of the discomfort caused by gas. It also aids in avoiding spitting. Some symptoms of trapped gas include crying, tightening the fists, bringing legs into the stomach, and arching the back. When to burp your infant is up to you. While some newborns require burping during feeding, some require it after. Additionally, some people could find it simpler than others.

Here are 3 techniques that many parents use. Try them all out to see what works best or use a combination.

Over the shoulder:
Hold your baby upright with the head resting on your shoulder.
Pat the back with your other hand.
Tip: Cupping your hand slightly is gentler than a flattened palm.

Sitting on your lap:
Sit your baby on your lap supporting the chin and chest with one hand. Rub or pat the back with your other hand.
Tip: Use repeated, gentle pats on your baby’s back.

Lying across your lap:
Rest your baby faced down on your lap and gently rub or pat the back.
Tip: Keep a cloth nearby in case your baby spits up.
