Lung sounds are the noises heard during breathing when air moves through the airways. They are assessed using a stethoscope and help in diagnosing respiratory conditions.

Normal lung sounds
Vesicular sounds: Soft, low-pitched sounds heard over most lung fields; indicate healthy lungs.

Bronchial sounds: Loud, high-pitched sounds heard over the trachea.

Abnormal (adventitious) lung sounds

Crackles (rales): Fine or coarse popping sounds; suggest fluid in lungs (e.g., pneumonia, pulmonary edema)
Wheezes: High-pitched musical sounds; indicate airway narrowing (e.g., asthma, bronchitis).

Rhonchi: Low-pitched, snoring sounds; due to mucus in large airways.

Stridor: Harsh, high-pitched sound during inspiration; indicates upper airway obstruction.

Pleural rub: Grating sound; due to inflamed pleural surfaces.

A random act of kindness to the elderly is a simple, thoughtful gesture done without expecting anything in return, aimed at making an older person feel valued, respected and cared for.

It can be as small as helping an elderly person cross the road, carrying their grocery bags, offering them a seat, listening patiently to their stories or checking in on a neighbor who lives alone. Sometimes, just a warm smile, a respectful greeting or a few minutes of genuine conversation can brighten their entire day.

Such acts remind the elderly that they are not forgotten and that their presence and experiences still matter. At the same time, these small kindnesses build empathy, strengthen community bonds and bring quiet joy to both the giver and the receiver.

Baby kicks during pregnancy are one of the most reassuring signs of a growing and healthy baby. These movements usually begin to be felt between the 16th and 22nd week of pregnancy. In the early stages, kicks may feel like gentle flutters or bubbles, but as the baby grows stronger, the movements become more noticeable and may feel like taps, rolls or stretches.

Baby kicks indicate the development of muscles, bones and the nervous system. Babies tend to be more active after meals, when the mother is resting or at night. Each baby has a unique movement pattern, and these movements often change in intensity and frequency as pregnancy progresses.

In the later months, the baby has less space to move, so kicks may feel slower but stronger. Regular baby movements are a positive sign of fetal well-being. A noticeable decrease in baby movements should always be taken seriously and reported to a healthcare provider.

There is no safe amount or safe time to drink alcohol while pregnant. Every sip can affect your baby’s brain and body development.
