A case of Chronic Tonsillitis.
Few parents will relate with this case of a boy suffering with chronic tonsillitis.
This is a case of a lively , cheerful, intelligent and an active boy but underweight and having less height for his age of 5 years.
The chief complaints presented were consistently enlarged tonsils, on and off nose blocks, low appetite and less sleep.
On examination of throat, bilaterally the tonsils were enlarged, almost blocking the passage . At the time of meeting, the patient had no pain . He had just finished a third course of antibiotics with in a period of a month.
The parents said that when the child gets episodes of acute tonsillitis ,they were terrified of his falling sick with high grade fever, headache, severe cough, vomitings, hoarseness of voice and almost zero appetite.
And these acute episodes were triggered by cold water or any cold drinks , any kind of fruit, ice creams, curd, curries , candies , fruit shakes, cold weather, changing seasons. So, most of the things were off his limits to eat.
And he had developed a habit of making a sound from his throat that perhaps developed as a result of hoarseness and itching in throat.
As happens in most of the cases that come to us as a homeopath, the parents were fed up of years of treating their son with antibiotics, anti allergics, occasional steroids, inhalers , cough syrups etc etc...
There was no improvement on the child's health and the tendency to get sick worsened by each episode of disease.
The worried parents asked us - " Will he ever get healthy? "
We said, "Of course!"
The mother asked- " Will he ever be able to eat fruits like normal kids? "
We said - " With in a few months!"
We asked the boy, what does he misses out most?
And the dear child said- " Ice-cream!!!"
He said - " I love to eat ice cream, but I don't because then I fall sick and I am not able to go to school and play in the park in the evenings ."
And what a sight mother was to watch as she heard her son telling all this.
Well, that was the first sitting we had, a glimpse of case taking .
The treatment started, and gradually the boy has gained his immunity , has grown with healthy weight and height, is eating well and is a chatterbox when he visits us.
