District Integrated Strategy for HIV/AIDS (DISHA) organized Red Run Marathon, “ Run for Awareness Run against HIV & STIS “ on 5th August 2025 in Mokokchung.
The objective of the event was to raise awareness and sensitize the public on HIV and AIDS. While also promoting fitness and a healthy lifestyle in the community.
Altogether 98 youths between the age group of 17- 25 years participated in the race.
Winners were given certificate and cash prize.

NCD Special Screening Drive Conducted in Mokokchung

In continuation with the observance of World Hypertension Day Department of Health & Family Welfare, Mokokchung conducted NCD Special Screening Drive on 20th May 2025 at the premises of DC office , District court, Food and Civil Supplies and District Agriculture Office,Mokokchung.
During the special drive Blood pressure and Blood sugar were tested for free. Leaflets on Non Communicable Disease ( NCD) were also distributed.
The team led by Dr.Limanaro DPO ( UIP & RCH ) consists of NCD Staff and IEC personnel .
The department will continue to conduct the special screening drive till 16th June 2025 covering Government Offices and public Places.

Population Research Centres (PRCs) Monitoring visit to Mokokchung

Population Research Centres (PRCs) Guwahati undertook field visit, to monitor the NHM programmes and activities in the Health Facilities being implemented in Mokokchung district by MoHFW on 27th& 28th Feb’ 2025.

PRCs representatives Shri.Karuna Gogoi and Shri.Kunal Das from Guwahati University visited Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital Mokokchung, Changtongya CHC, Tuli CHC, Mongsenyimti PHC, Sabangya PHC, Ungma PHC, UPHC Yimyu, Khensa HWSC, Changtongya HWSC, Yaongyimsen HWSC and Yisemyong HWSC.
During their visit the monitoring team interacted with the Medical Officers, Health workers and ASHAs on the ongoing activities and also scrutinize record keeping on management, ANC, immunization, and upkeep of various patient records.

Training of Urban ASHAs on Importance of Oral Health
National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) organized a One day training on Importance of Oral Health for Urban ASHAs of Mokokchungon 28th Nov 2024 at Conference HallChief Medical Officers Office,Mokokchung with Dr. Keneitheja Dental Surgeon IMDH and Shri. Nukshiwati Consultant NTCP as Resource persons.
Dr. Keneitheja Dental surgeon IMDHMokokchung spoke on the Roles and Responsibilities of ASHAs at Community level by raising awareness about common dental disease including oral hygiene, diet, to***co cessation and promotion of regular dental visits. He also urged to co -ordinate with Anganwadi workers and School teachers for daily brushing of teeth among school children.
Shri.NukshiwatiConsultant NTCP called upon the ASHAs to create awareness in the Community especially the youths about the ill effects of To***co use and COTPA 2003.

The dedication of Citizen’s Welfare Pharmacy was held at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital Mokokchung on 1st November 2024.Dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Shri. Wapang Longchar Chaplain IMDH in presence of Dr.S Marina Yaden Medical Superintendent of IMDH, Senior Medical Officers, Medical Officers,Tutors and Nurses.
Dr. Marina Yaden MS IMDH in her brief Speech stated that it is a significant day for IMDH since it was a dream come true. She mentioned that the pharmacy was made functional due to the contributions of IMDH staff and also the tireless and selfless efforts of Dr. Mar Walling Orthopedic Senior Specialist IMDH and Lulenmayang Pharmacist.
Dr.Marina said that the pharmacy is for the patients at hospital to make medicines easily accessible. The Pharmacy will be kept open 24x7 for the patients. Medicines will be available at 5% discount and the income generated from the pharmacy will go to the development fund of IMDH.
She also called upon the Staff to work honestly and sincerely for the welfare of the community.
It is to be noted that Citizen’s Welfare Pharmacy is an initiative of Department of Health & Family Welfare.

Roll out cm orientation of School Principals/ Head teachers, District programme officers/ staffs of Health and Education Departments in Mokokchung on Ayushman Bharat- School Health and Wellness Programme (AB-SHWP) was held on 28th October 2024 at Penli Community Hall Mokokchung. The programme is a joint initiative between the Ministries of Health & Family Welfare and Department of School Education & Literacy(MOE) and Ministry of Human Resource and Development.

During her presentation Dr.Bilva Yalie, Medical officer, UPHC Siekhazou Kohima stated that the objectives and implementation of School health and wellness programme (SHWP) is to increase knowledge/ information about health and nutrition, indicates positive attitudes and enhance life skills to promote informed, responsible and healthy behavior among school going children. Creating the adolescent as agents of change or health messengers for spreading key health messages within the community.Establish robust linkages between schools and health and wellness centers (HWCs) and AFHCs to insure continuum of care between HWCs, higher facilities, schools and communities.

In this regard, she mentioned that the Principal/ Head master, two Health & Wellness Ambassadors (HWAs)- Teachers and two Health & Wellness Messengers (HWMs)- students per institution in co-ordination with the Ayushman Bharat- School Health and Wellness Programme (AB-SHWP) will play a vital role “to foster growth, development and educational achievement of school going children by promoting their health and wellbeing.”

The programme aims to sensitize parents on the needs of growing children, and thus, engaging the students and the institutions in “Eleven themes of curriculum”, namely- Growing up healthy, Emotional well-being and mental health, interpersonal relationships, values and responsible citizenship, nutrition/health & sanitation, Gender equality, Prevention & management of substance misuse, Promotion of healthy lifestyle, Reproductive Health and HIV prevention, Promotion of safe use of internet/gadgets & media and Safety & security against violence & injuries.

AB-SHWP will continue to train the HWAs& HWMs in a batch-wise training program from 29th – 30th Oct’ 2024 at CMO conference hall &Penli Community Hall.

Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders Prevention Day was observed with Urban ASHAs on 21st October 2024 at Conference Hall, Chief Medical Officers Office,Mokokchung.
During a brief programmeDr.LimanaroDPO( UIP & RCH) presented on the significance of the day by stating that Iodine Deficiency Disorder is a public problem all over the world.
She highlighted that one out of every five people in India lives in IDD endemic areas. These disorders are caused by lack of iodine in the diet, which ranges from simple goiter, mental retardation, stunted growth of cretinism. She added, most of these disorders are permanent yet all of them are preventable only by consuming good quality iodized salt.
She called upon the ASHAs to disseminate the information on Iodine disorders, its consequences, control and preventive measures.
Salt testing was also demonstrated to ASHAs. The programme was chaired by Shri. L.Kilangmeren Computor IEC.

Celebration of the 6th anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) and 2nd anniversary of Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) was held at the Conference hall, IMDH on 7th October 2024.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Kibangkumba CMO, in his key note address on AB-PMJAY CMHIS said that it is the biggest insurance health scheme implemented in our Country. He also noted that the underprivileged families benefit from it.
Shri Takotemjen Longkumer, LDA cm BIS operator, CMO office in his keynote address on AB-PMJAY CMHIS, gave an overview of the ABPMJAY, which provides health insurance coverage of upto Rs 5 lakh per family per year and targets vulnerable population, including unemployed and economically weaker sections and thousands of lives were impacted in Mokokchung District. He also highlighted the difference in benefits of PM-JAY/ CMHIS between the general category and Government employee/pensioner.
The programme also held a felicitation programme, where Smti S Jain IAS, the special guest gave the award to Imkongliba Memorial district Hospital (IMDH) Mokokchung for the best performing hospital in mokokchung and the top three winners of the essay competition were awarded.
The programme was followed by free medical health camp and distribution of free medicines.

The international day of older persons 2024 under the Theme “ Aging with dignity” was observed at IMDH, Mokokchung organised by NP-NCD Mokokchung in collaboration with IMDH, Mokokchung.
In the occasion T. Temsusenla Aier, Principal School of Nursing, IMDH, addressed the significant of the day. She said that aging is a natural process and is incurable but normal . she also said that the day provides an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution, wisdom, dignity and needs of our senior citizens and to re-dedicate our effort to ensure their well being. She also mention about old age homes, old age pensions, protection of life and properties.
Dr Limanaro DIO & NP-NCD i/c delivered the overview of the programme, where she stated that the day is observed to give respect to the elder persons. She said it is very important for health workers to know about the wellbeing of the elder persons for they will encounter a lot of elder persons. She also mention about the line listings of the elder persons in health units who were given special care. She encouraged all the participants to give better and quality service to the elders.
Health care of the elderly was delivered by Dr Lipokyanger, Ophthalmologist, IMDH and the programme was chaired by Dr Aosemba MO, NPCDCS.
