Hotmail Co-founder Sabeer Bhatia just asked a question India can’t ignore.
Yes, India became the 4th largest economy in 2025 — a $4.19 trillion milestone.
But Bhatia says what millions already feel every day:
“Air is unbreathable. Water is undrinkable. Food is adulterated.”
So what’s the point of growth… if people can’t live with dignity?
And the data backs him:
• Air: Almost half of India lives in regions where PM2.5 levels exceed safe limits. Some cities hit hazardous zones daily.
• Water: Polluted rivers, contaminated groundwater, unsafe drinking water still affect millions.
• Food: FSSAI found thousands of food samples unsafe or substandard.
• Infrastructure: Growth is happening — but uneven. Some cities race ahead, others still struggle with basic mobility and services.
Bhatia’s message is a reminder:
GDP can rise… but real progress is when everyday life improves.
