Eye injury with a tree branch.

Lot of tree cutters are prome to this type of eye injuries.
As far as there is no perforation or invasive wound eye and vision both are retrievable.

Fortunately this injury is too peripheral and his vision is not affected much.

Though this can be avoided by simple precautionary measure like wearing eye protection glasses.

And Surgical removal of cataract remains the only therapy.

💯 treatable provided there are no other ailments in the eye.

Something that hampers vision in our young patients - A Posterior Polar Cataract or a PPC

Posterior Polar cataracts (PPC) represent a medically and surgically unique subset of cataracts.
Incidence is less common than most other forms of cataract.

Cataracts form early in life, but may become more clinically significant over time.
Bilateral eye involvement is reported in 65-80% of cases.

Corneal Foreign Bodies account for the second most common form of Ocular Trauma.

It usually is an object (eg,metal, glass, wood, plastic, sand) either superficially adherent or embedded in the cornea.
Do not ignore foreign body sensation in the eye.
An embedded Foreign body can lead to a corneal ulcer if not removed on time.

Do not rub your eyes when anything goes in the eye,
Dust, plastic, metal, insect anything.

It tends to erode the epithelium of cornea and forms a defect.

Though it is curable but in 5% of cases it might lead to corneal ulcer which are not medically treatable.

Instead wash your eyes thoroughly with lot of water and visit an eye doctor immediately. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Cosmesis after squint operations is real.
A young patient of ours, got correction for squint in both eyes.

Can you make out the difference???

Our 28 year old patient with both eyes exotropia (right eye> left eye) was so troubled and depressed cuz of the squint.
Above one is the pic before her surgery and below is her post op pic on day 1.
Procedure- Right Eye MR resection with Bilateral LR recesion under LA.

Results turned out to be outstanding post operative and we gained a happy patient.

We wish her a happy life ahead.🙌🏻🙌🏻

Corticosteroids are called miracle drugs but not when you treat yourself without showing the doctor.

This patient came with a history of foreign body going in her eye after which she was advised on phone by some local doctor to put eye drop pyrimon df and toba dm. (Both are steroids)

She ended up with a necrotising fungal ulcer and unfortunately will need a total keratoplasty (corneal transplant).

Requesting all to please show an ophthalmologist before starting any eye drops. Do not self medicate and also be cautious when you are consulting online.
Any negligence will cost you your eyes.

Do Not Forget You Have Just One Pair Of Eyes!!!
