Today is Maharashtra Day! May 1st, commemorates the formation of the state of Maharashtra in 1960. On this occasion, we would like to celebrate the inception of the Asian Heart Institute itself, in the state of Maharashtra.
Initially, the plan was to set up the hospital outside Mumbai, possibly in Chennai. A few other cities were also under consideration; but destiny led us to Maharashtra and Mumbai.
I set out to build an institute of excellence where patient centricity would be prime. I had no idea about the scale of impact the hospital would eventually create.
From the very beginning, it was the most challenging cases that found their way to the hospital. It wasn't easy but this was part of God’s plan! This is what built our reputation and the hospital began to attract a very refined gentry that demanded only the best. Even before Asian Heart was set up, I had performed high-profile surgeries- case in point being the late thespian Dilip Kumar. As word spread, patients from across the country and the world sought to be operated by my team and I.
Being located in Mumbai, the financial capital, played its part in the hospital’s growth. For us at Asian Heart- the phrase 'City of Dreams', started to become reality.
Millions of patients later, it still remains one.
We remain, 100% heart, Asian Heart!
