As we ape western cultures more and break into smaller and busier family units, we forget that our current generations, obsessed as they are with the digital world, have no clue to love and care for our senior citizens. Both the populations (juniors and seniors) live in different worlds, the gap is ever widening. It is our duty to sensitise our children to the needs of our aged.
With a little help, we can prevent or stop the dreaded problem of dementia and many cases of Alzheimer's too. Our children need to help with caretaking with compassion and having real conversations with their grandparents and other senior citizens of their community.
Sahabhaav had some wonderful visitors from R N Podar school, Santacruz. The 12th graders mingled amongst our residents, while we encouraged them to talk and listen with empathy and compassion. They had this to say when they left......
