Sleeping with your contact lens on for more than an hour compromises your corneal quality due to inadequate oxygen getting absorbed from your eye.
It is important to let your cornea breathe and give them a break from the lenses.
Sleeping with the lenses on greatly increases the chances of infection.
Also, the lenses dry up when you sleep with them still on your eyes and that can cause damage to your eyes when you pull it off.
To reduce the risk of developing any negative problems , refrain from the following.

1. Do not sleep with your lenses on.
2. Dont reuse disposable contacts.
3. Dont swim with your lenses on.
4. Dont share your lenses with others.
5. Avoid the fashion contact lenses.

Patients often rush to us with this complaint of sudden ‘bleeding’ into/ from the eye. Though the commonest cause is any trivial trauma to the eye ( as trivial as rubbing the eyes casually ) , sometimes it can just happen in sleep too without any apparent trauma.
Another common cause could be a spike in blood pressure usually seen in hypertensive patients.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW :
This is SUBCONJUNCTIVAL HAEMORRHAGE seen due to rupture of a tiny blood vessel underneath the clear surface of your eye.
WHAT TO DO:
Do not panic and certainly do not google for half information.
Close the normal eye with your palm and see if you have any visual problems with the affected eye.
If yes - consult a nearby ophthalmologist.
If No - you are good with a multivitamin tablet. It resolves on its own in a week.
But do consult an ophthalmologist to be sure that it is indeed what it looks like.
