A step wise guide of questions for parents to ask themselves when their child has been diagnosed with Learning Disability or any other Special Abilities.
Lets see what questions parents should ask!
1. Are there any physical or health concerns to address?
Vision, fatigue, hearing, seizures, etc. these physical and health concerns can play a huge role in a child's learning potential.
2. What is my child's overall learning potential?
IQ tests, Academic tests, portfolios, teacher observations etc. will give us this accumulation of the the child's overall learning potential.
3. Exactly where are the areas of shortcomings and strengths?
Learning disability evaluation will give you the niche areas as each child has unique challenges and capabilities.
4. What kind of academic support does my child need ?
Learning disability evaluation reports should mention the level of the child as compared to the same aged peers and that will help us to understand the level of support that the child requires.
5. What kind of social and emotional support does my child require ?
Parents need to be well aware about the child's socialization and emotional needs and then decide whether counseling support is required or not.
