Not just a doctor, but a woman in her work place, in her building, when meeting a group of new people, a girl attending college and maybe even in school.

We women change our micro behaviours so much without even realizing!

Look at my face- see how stern it is, it should tell I’m the “serious kind”. Don’t you dare think otherwise for even a moment!

I remember because I have done it Every. Single. Day. In some setting or the other.

I have smiled only when I was sure beyond doubt that the person was safe to let into the softness of a smile 🙏🏻

When you’re in an unexpectedly difficult airport situation, the mandate should be simple-

Get good food, watch a comedy show, listen to music that’s familiar, observe people and wonder why they’re behaving so effusively while you’re really reining it in and holding it together. You’ll almost make it through.. then something or someone will tip you over the edge- a rude comment as they fail to pronounce your name for the 5th time, an eye roll because you don’t comprehend the language.. and suddenly your blood will be boiling and you’ll be in a tizzy of disbelief, rage and eventually helplessness. This ofcourse is compounded by the fact that you’re stuck there for 6 hours with food compensation that will just about buy you an omlette (after submitting breakfast + lunch coupons, mind you).

Then recover from them emotions and write a note so that you don’t repeat this behaviour, for the situation is sure to repeat itself.

End with chocolate cake.

P.P.S. Perpetually peppy Latin American music and the burst of colours that are always around don’t compensate for everything!
