โจ WHO IS RICH & WHO IS POOR? โจ
Recently, during a consultation, a mother told me her 9-year-old was taunted at school by another child saying, "You are poor so you bring food from home."
Now this is an elite school offering a widespread menu for meals at school. Fortunately, they give the option to opt for school meals or bring your own tiffin.
The school menu almost looked like a restaurant buffet โ with additional exotic items as Todayโs Special! ๐ฝ๏ธ
So the well-meaning parents chose to provide home-cooked meals instead of having their daughter eat all this every day.
But when another child comments like this, it really makes me concerned about the message being passed on to such tender minds. ๐ญ
We as parents and school authorities have a big responsibility towards the health of these children โ physical as well as mental.
Children form their definitions of right and wrong, good and bad, rich and poor based on:
โข the conversations of adults around them,
โข the choices they see being made,
โข the content they are exposed to at various levels.
๐ค We all need to ask ourselves โ
โข What is the definition of good food in our family?
โข Is that food really doing us good?
โข Why is such food offered in schools?
โข Why is it opted for by parents?
A child whose mother wakes up early to make sure she eats food that nourishes her wellbeing is a rich child.
Discussion over. โ๏ธ
Overloaded wallets that are used to fill oneself up with unhealthy junk every day is, in reality, poverty.
These are concepts children MUST learn to be able to make sane choices in life.
And where do they learn from?
US.
Letโs not blame the present generation. They are only expressing what we have fed into them.
We adults โ parents, grandparents, relatives, teachers โ all of us really need to pull up our socks! ๐
