According to Ayurveda eating curd at night is generally discouraged due to several reasons:
1.Digestion - Night time is when the digestive fire(Agni)is weaker.curd is heavy and hard to digest, potentially leading to indigestion, bloating or discomfort when eaten at night.
2.Mucus formation-Curd tends to produce mucus which can be problamatic if consumed at night, especially for people who are prone to respiratory issues or cold.
3.Acidity- curd can increase acidity and cause heartburn or acid reflux.
4.Toxins accumulation - Ayurveda believes that eating curd at night can lead to the accumulation of toxins (ama) in the body, which can contribute to various health issues over time.
5.Kapha dosha imbalance - curd is considered to be heavy and increases the kapha dosha which is already dominant during the night. This can lead to an imbalance, causing issues like congestion, cold & respiratory problems.
For these reasons Ayurveda typically recommends consuming curd during the daytime, preferably in the morning or early afternoon when digestion is stronger.
