Positional Vertigo (Bppv) is commonly seen when our balance sensors get displaced and start relaying wrong signals upon head position changes and often activities like getting up from lying position and turning in bed can be accompanied by severe sudden rotatory sensation.
Here we present a patient suffering from Bppv affecting Lateral semicircular canal being treated by Zuma manoeuvre by Dr Manish Prakash Senior ENT Specialist at Mayom Hospital Gurugram after diagnosis with Computerised VNG testing

*How is diagnosis of vertigo is done ?*
Vertigo is a symptom and not a disease. Often rather than finding exact cause it is often assumed to be caused by Bp , Cervical or Diabetes problem

Often Vertigo is just treated symptomatically and so after temporary relief it keeps on resurfacing every now and then leading to loss of confidence.

Some people may be given medicines to suppress sensation of spinning as emergency treatment, but the diagnosis of root cause is important to direct the correct long term treatment which may include the following:

• Vestibular rehabilitation

• Canalith repositioning maneuvers

• Medicine

At Balance Center Mayom Hospital Gurugram, Dr Manish Prakash will discuss your medical history and inquire about any symptoms you've been experiencing to diagnose vertigo with advanced testing.

Computerised assessment of balancing system is done by Video Nystagmography (VNG)in which eye recording is done by special camera in response to various balance stimulus triggering the semicircular canals of right and left ear.

Advanced craniocorpography (CCG) Is used to assess gait of the patient while walking.

Visual vertical ( SVV) is a measure of vertical vector in different orientation which is important for fall prevention

Dynamic Visual Acuity (DVA) is responsible for fixing the image on the retina when either object or person is in motion.

Here we share the feedback of patient suffering from vertigo for many years without exact diagnosis and the relief which can be given with accurate diagnosis by Dr Manish Prakash
