💐“VAASTU OF KITCHEN”💐

Kitchen is the best place to attain better health and improve motivation. It is directly associated with health and nourishment of the family. The kitchen is an integral part of any Indian household—the source of our day-long energy.

Every single appliance that finds pride of place in our kitchen is important, and if it is placed according to the principles of Vastu, can ensure that positivity prevails. Kitchen- as per Oxford dictionary is a room in which meals are cooked or prepared and eaten too.

🌹“Astrology factor”🌹 - In astrology- Mars representing fire and Venus representing women; taste sense and eatables- govern the kitchen.

The womenfolk in the home- our mothers, sisters and female relatives- mainly work in the kitchen. So venus’s quality like love, affection and warmth of relationship are represented by Kitchen.

🙏🏻“Direction of Kitchen”🙏🏻

According to Vastu Shastra, the Lord of Fire—Agni—prevails in the southeast direction of the home, which means that the ideal placement of the kitchen is the southeast direction of our home. Here we have maximum benefits of solar radiation.

👉🏻 Other convenient locations are the northwest, east or south for kitchen. if kitchen is placed in these direction, always face east while cooking. Never place the kitchen in northeast, brahmasthana and southwest sectors.

👉🏻Most dangerous kitchen is the one placed in North direction; as North is Lord Kubera’s (the God of Wealth) direction, having kitchen in North will increase expenditure of family beyond expectations and control.

👉🏻Northeast is the coldest zone of water. It is the meeting point of light and dark zones. A kitchen in North-East causes mental tension among family members and they suffer great losses. This is a common vastu defect, if – in your home – the kitchen is in the North-East corner,

👉🏻The southwest sector is the hottest place. Too much fire will accumulate here if kitchen is placed in this sector. It may lead to fire hazards. The creative fire of kitchen will get converted into destructive fire.

👉🏻Southeast sector is the mid point of light zone and receives maximum sunlight. Otherwise also, the kitchen should be well lit and airy. To let in plenty of natural light, place windows preferably on north or east side of the kitchen. These windows and ventilators help in proper cross ventilation. In the absence of cross ventilation, the cooking odour will permeate whole of the house causing discomfort to the inhabitants.

💐“Arrangement in Kitchen”💐

👉🏻All the objects inside the kitchen represent fire, so gas stoves, cylinders, microwave ovens, toasters, among other appliances should be placed in the south-east part of the kitchen.

👉🏻The refrigerator should be positioned in the south-west direction to help you overcome obstacles in life. It will also ensure a peaceful kitchen environment. Storage of grains and other stock should be in the south-west direction of the kitchen as it invites good luck and prosperity.

👉🏻Sinks and taps in the kitchen indicate flowing water and they should always be placed in the north-east direction. Also, vastu shastra says that sinks should not be placed anywhere near the stove, since water and fire are opposite elements and they repel each other.

👉🏻The Door- A door behind the person working at the stove is not good. While cooking, you should be able to see anyone coming into the kitchen without turning your head more than 45º. Kitchen should be away from the main door of the house. It will avoid the outer disturbing influences. You will be able to concentrate on your cooking.

👉🏻The kitchen should be spacious but should not consist of a very large open space. In a large open kitchen, people will continually walk through and disturb the cook. Such large sized kitchen can be conveniently used as a dining room cm kitchen. Place the dining table preferably along the western wall. Square or rectangular table with rounded corners is considered best.

👉🏻If your kitchen is spacious and receives lot of sunlight you can grow curry leaf, spinach, edible flowers, vegetables and spices. Basil, garlic, onion, coriander, spear mint, chillies, aniseed, turmeric, fenugreek etc.

💐“Colours in kitchen”💐

👉🏻Kitchen symbolizes family’s health and wealth. Freshly prepared tasty food is the greatest wealth. So in kitchen decoration should be soothing, we should use gentle and nurturing colours.

👉🏻The natural colour of ripe fruits and vegetables is yellow. So yellow, orange and pink colours are good to paint the kitchen.

👉🏻Orange colour is great appetizer. Pink is the colour of love, affection, sympathy, and balanced activity.
Matching shades such as peach, and salmon can be safety used. Paint the kitchen in a light colour if the size is small. It will increase the amount of light.

🌹🌹“Avoid following things in kitchen”🌹🌹

👉🏻Avoid kitchen directly under or above bedroom.
Do not place cooking gas burner or stove directly in front kitchen’s entrance door. Do not have main door of kitchen in any corners; place it in East, North or West wall.

👉🏻Never face west while cooking as this leads to severe health problems to the cook. If – while cooking – the cook faces south then family has to face monetary losses.

👉🏻Avoid black color for kitchen wall and flooring. Avoid keeping refrigerator in North-East direction. Put cooking gas burner or stove in South-East corner of kitchen, make sure that it is a few inches away from wall.

👉🏻Provide “L” shaped platform, next to the kitchen’s main platform, near South wall and use this platform for keeping and operating microwave ovens, mixer/grinder etc.

👉🏻Use North-East to set up wash-basin or sink in the kitchen. Use North-East or North side to keep drinking water and utensils for drinking water.

👉🏻Keep grain boxes, pulses, various spices, salt etc. in South or West direction. Have two windows/gaps in East and West walls of kitchen and place an exhaust fan in any of the windows/gaps.

👉🏻Give sacred offering to fire of the first thing you prepare in kitchen to make sure peace and prosperity. Clean kitchen, kitchen platform and utensils daily at night before sleeping.

“SUN🌞”

Sun is “bilious/Pitta” in temperament. The medical conditions that the Sun rules over include headache, baldness, hyper-irritability, heart, stomach, bones and right eye. Diseases of bile ( liver and gall bladder), fevers and pains, burns, diseases arising from the inflammation, injuries from falls, weapons and poisoning, heart troubles, eye disease, stomach ailments, bone disorders, disturbances of the blood circulation, epilepsy, leprosy, and fear from quadrupeds etc.

“ Moon”🌜
It has a phlegmatic ("Kapha') temperament with an element of wind ("Vaata"). Its strength or weakness reflects the stability and soundness of the mind of the individual. It rules over liquids in the body the blood and the left eye. It stands for psychiatric problems, mental aberrations nervousness, emotional disturbances, increase of sleep and general inertia. Mercury has in its nature all the three humours., wind, bile and phlegm ("Vaata, Pitta and Kapha'). Mercury is concerned with the intelligence of a native. Its disposition in a chart indicates the capacity for discrimination and reasoning. An adverse Mercury, in collaboration with a malefic Moon, can damange one's thinking and be a cause of certain mental aberrations. It rules over skin, throat, nose, lungs and forebrain. Splenic diseases, obesity, anaemias, fainting, ear troubles, diabetes, etc. It being a slow moving planet, the diseases caused by Jupiter are chronic in nature. Jupiter also causes laziness.

“Venus”

Venus suffers from excess of wind and phlegm (Vaata and Kapha"). It governs the s*xual drive of an individual. If badly afflicted and ill placed, it leads to s*xual perversions and venereal diseases. It rules over face, eyesight, seminal fluid, reproductive organs, urinary system, lacrimal (tear) glands, etc. It is also the significator for the parts of the body like intestine, appendix and part of the pancreas. Venus signifies s*xual disorders and is concerned with the endocrine (or hormonal) organs as well as the urinary system, diseases of the face, eye diseases, cataract, diseases of tear glands, leucoderma, venereal disease, diabetes, carbuncle, urethral stricture, stones in the kidney and urinary bladder, laziness, tiredness and exhaustion.

“Saturn”🪐

Saturn has primarily wind (Vaata') and some phlegm ('Kapha) in its disposition. It is the slowest moving planet and the diseases caused by it are either incurable or very chronic. Saturn rules over legs and feet, nerves, lymphatics, and distal part of the colon and re**um. It signifies chronicity, incurability, insanity, paralysis, idiocy, glandular diseases, elephantiasis, tumours and cancers, unforseen dangers, exhaustion and fatigue, diseases and injuries of the legs and feet, mental disorders characterised by depression and melancholy, stomach troubles, injuries sustained from the fall of trees and stones.

“Rahu”🐍

It signifies slowness of action, clumsiness, hiccup, insanity, unfounded fears, leprosy, debility, haemorrhoids, chronic boils and ulcers, incurable ailments, poisoning, snake bite, and diseases in the feet. In collaboration with the Moon, Rahu gives rise to various phobias. Being equivalent to Saturn, it indicates chronicity and incurability.

“Ketu”🐍

Ketu produces all the ailments signified by Rahu. In addition it leads to diseases with uncertain cause, epidemics, eruptive fevers viral and infective diseases, helminthiasis intestinal parasites), deafness, defects of speech, as also diagnostic confusion. Ketu being equivalent to Mars also indicates surgical intervention.

🙏🙏“MANGALA KALASH & ITS IMPORTANCE”🙏🙏

India is a country with many religions, cultures and traditions. Every state has its own customs and rituals. Hindus consider the Mangal Kalash as a 'source of life', believing that it creates peace and happiness in our homes.

🌹“Use of Mangal Kalash”🌹

🤝🏻Every puja requires a Mangal Kalash, especially during all pre-wedding rituals and wedding ceremonies at the mandap. Much before the wedding ceremony, the Mangal Kalash is blessed by the pandit.

🤝🏻Made up of a metal Kalash and a coconut on the top, it’s decorated with vermillion and turmeric powder along with mango leaves.

🤝🏻The Kalash is filled with grains, water, gems, coins, silver and sometimes, even gold. A red thread is tied around it to mark the presence of the universe.

🤝🏻Many times, people want to proclaim it to a specific God or a Goddess, so they tie a silver or brass semblance around the Kalash.

🤝🏻The coconut in the Mangal Kalash, also known as the 'elixir of life' or Amrit, credits wisdom and immortality with the Kalash.

🤝🏻 Served as an offering at many Hindu temples, the coconut is also called the fruit of God. It is believed to bring good luck when it's smashed into two – something that people do when starting a new job or buying something new, like a house or car. Apart from that, it is presented as a sacrifice at pujas and then distributed as God’s Prashad.

💐“ SYMBOL”💐

The Mangal Kalash symbolises material things, It is a divine symbol. Kalash has presiding deities of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Kalash is a pot of fertility, while the coconut represents power and prosperity. The mango leaves refer to the God of Love, K**a. It is believed that the Kalash should be established in the temple of the house of the new couple and be worshipped by all the members of its family, in order to ensure love and prosperity.

🙏🏻 Scientific myth of “Mangal Kalash”🙏🏻

👉🏻It is a small size earthen pitcher, which is filled with fresh, pure holy water. Sometimes a pitcher of holy metal such as gold, silver, copper or bronze is also used as an alternative material for earth. Its mouth is decorated with mango tree leaves, coconut and flowers. Mango is an evergreen tree. Its leaves are a good combination of rajas and tamas and show continuity of life after birth. Green colour is necessary for life survival.

👉🏻Coconut represents body, which is hard from outside to bear the atrocities of nature and soft from inside to facilitate adjustments. This body may be co- related to a human body as well as the house structure. The flowers used in mangala kalash are the essence of our life and represent the sattvic force.

🌹“Mythological View”🌹

👉🏻The material of which mangala kalash is formed, represents 'Earth' element, which gives stability to life and residence. Water is the life source. This shrishti of ours originated from water. The first avtara of Lord Vishnu is fish ie Matsya Avtara'. Water - like Vishnu - is must for our survival.

👉🏻 All around this kalash, auspicious markings such as Aum, Sw****ka, and floral patterns are made to decorate it properly. This body of ours is like a mangala kalash. Face of a person or main gate of the house should be extraordinarily decorated.

👉🏻The Mangal Kalash is based on the Vedic history of the country, which is what that laid its foundation and is still impacting the way Hindus worship and pray. It has been auspicious since the time of Rigveda.

👉🏻It has many names, such as Soma Kalash, Chandra Kalash, Indra Kumbha, Purnaghata, Purna Virakamsya and Bhadra Ghata. According to the Vedas, it’s an overflowing vase. The Mangal Kalash is known to epitomise either Lord Ganesha, his mother Gauri or Goddess Lakshmi. It is also worshipped during wedding ceremonies and childbirth.

👉🏻It is very auspicious to place the Mangal kalash in the northeast direction of the building structure. It can be installed in the altar on any Friday.

👉🏻This kalash can also be placed on the pujavedi (worship dais or table) near the idols or pictures of the deity. It is placed facing the North, in the center. This positioning signifies balance; balance that one needs to achieve success in every walk of life. When devas and asuras churned the ocean to obtain the immortality nectar, it is said that the nectar appeared in a kalasha. Thus it also symbolizes immortality.

💐“Use Of Mangal kalash in Marriage”💐

👉🏻As Indian weddings are all about dazzling wedding décor, colourful flowers and furnished drapes, A metallic Kalash that adds a pop of glamour to its surroundings. A metallic kalash can be found in brass as well as copper.

👉🏻 Apart from that, we can even opt for a marble Kalash for your wedding day, Many people have amplified the ritual of bringing a Mangal Kalash at their weddings by coming up with an oversized Kalash which even carries the wedding couple. However, the use of Mangal Kalash in this manner is probably not a good idea (as it is more of a symbolic thing than an actual prayer) and should only be worshipped in a traditional manner.

Thus mangala kalash is established in the house afterproper worship during first entry to the house. It invites auspicious energies, wealth and prosperity in the house. This mangala ghat is being established' during all the holy and auspicious ceremonies since vedic times.
