Types of Ear Discharge

1. Watery Ear Discharge-Thin and clear, sometimes mixed with mucus.
2. Pus-like (Purulent) Discharge-Thick, yellow or green, often foul-smelling.
3. Bloody Discharge-May be fresh red blood or blood-stained fluid.
4. Foul-Smelling Thick Discharge-Dark, sticky, and bad odor.
5. Wax Mixed Discharge-Brown, sticky, sometimes mistaken for pus.
6. Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) Leak (rare but serious)-Clear, watery, continuous discharge.

✅ When to see an ENT doctor?

If discharge lasts more than 2–3 days
If it is foul-smelling, bloody, or recurrent
If there’s hearing loss, dizziness, or severe pain

👉 “Not all ear discharge is the same — the type, color, and smell can tell a lot about your ear health. Early ENT consultation = better treatment outcomes.
