Do you know why it feels lazy after Iftar?
Reasons for laziness and laziness after Iftar:
Most people feel sluggish and sleepy after Iftar or a meal. The main scientific reason for this is called "Postprandial Hypotension". It is a process in which most of the body's blood flow to the stomach and intestines after a meal. To help with digestion. This results in decreasing the amount of blood the brain gets, making it feel sluggish, sluggish, and sluggish.
How does this process work?
1. More blood needed for digestion:
When we eat, the stomach and intestines require more blood to absorb oxygen and nutrients. This process is called "Splanchnic Vasodilation", under which blood vessels to the abdominal area are spread to and from the heart. About 25 to 30% of the blood released goes to the same organs. The supply of blood to the rest of the body decreases slightly.
2. Low blood supply to the brain:
Because more blood is being used in the digestive system, the brain gets temporarily less blood. Because the brain needs oxygen and glucose to function, the lack of it feels sluggish and tired.
3. The beginning of the rest and digest system:
The Parasympathetic Nervous System (Rest and Digest) system is activated after eating. This system improves digestion but at the same time puts the body into a state of rest, making you relaxed and relaxed. Feeling lazy.
4. A sudden rise in blood sugar:
Eating too much sweets in Iftar increases blood sugar levels rapidly, resulting in the release of insulin hormone that lowers sugar levels, which later makes you feel sluggish and tired from the decrease in sugar levels.
5. Production of insulin and serotonin hormones:
Excessive consumption of carbohydrates (such as sweet and fatty foods) increases insulin levels, which leads to more of the hormone called Serotonin in the brain. This chemical contributes to making the brain calm and sleepy, leading to Iftar. Feels like the goosebumps afterwards.
Ways to avoid this:
1. Have a light and balanced Iftar, avoid excessive fat and sugary foods.
2. Drink adequate amounts of water to avoid dehydration.
3. Take a light walk after Iftar to improve blood flow.
4. Prefer protein diets (e.g. yogurt, meat, egg) to maintain energy.
5. Limit the use of caffeine (tea or coffee) so that sleep does not affect.
By taking a few precautions like this, you can avoid sluggishness after Iftar and feel more relaxed.
