1966 — Maharishi’s Year of Academy of Meditation
In 1966, Maharishi established the first International Academy of Meditation in Shankaracharya Nagar, Rishikesh, India — giving a physical foundation to the growing wave of inner awakening.
With this, the knowledge of Transcendental Meditation moved from being widely shared to being systematically taught, refined, and preserved. The academy became a space where consciousness could be explored, stabilized, and lived — not occasionally, but as a continuous reality.
As Maharishi expressed, “Meditation is the means to make life systematic, to live all possibilities of life in a natural way.”
This marked a turning point: realization was no longer only an individual journey — it became a structured path, a shared field of learning, where knowledge could be multiplied and carried forward across generations.
1966 stands as the year where wisdom found its foundation, and the science of consciousness began to take form as an organized, living discipline.
Realization becomes established.
