अब तो ऐसा समय है कि जिसके सिर में बाल नहीं है वही कंघी बेच रहा है । हरिशंकर परसाई की व्यंग्य रचना आपने पढ़ी होगी "टॉर्च बेचने वाला" जिसमें अंधेरे का डर दिखाकर लोगों के बीच टॉर्च बेचा जाता है । ज्यादातर बड़ी-बड़ी कंपनियां इसी दोगलेपन के सहारे अपना प्रोडक्ट बेचकर आगे बढ़ रही हैं। चेहरे चमकाने के लिए फेयरनेस क्रीम बेचना भी दोगलापन ही है।

जिनकी जुबान कुछ और बोलती है और करते कुछ और हैं और सोच कुछ और होती है।

दोगले को संस्कृत में वर्णसंकर कहते है जिसका अर्थ है जो जातियों /प्रजातियों के मेल से पैदा हुआ। वर्णसंकर कुछ भी हो सकता है -कोई इंसान ,जानवर या पौधा। ऐसा माना जाता है की इस तरह पैदा हुयी चीज़ में दो धाराओं के गुण-अवगुण कुछ इस तरह मिले होते हैं की उनके व्यवहार मे अंतर्विरोध अधिक हो जाता है और उसका अनुमान करना मुश्किल होता है।

जब हम किसी इंसान के लिए दोगला शब्द का प्रयोग करते हैं तो इसका ज़्यादातर आशय उसके व्यवहार के दोरूखेपन से ही होता है । क्योंकि नस्ल वाले दोगलेपन के बारे मे तो हमारे पास कुछ प्रमाण नहीं होता न। सो उसका भी अनुमान हम व्यवहार के आधार पर ही करते हैं।
