Sorry can land empty. People struggling do not need immediate fixing, cheering up or polite sympathy. They need to feel seen, believed, understood and definitely not rushed to feel better or out of their pain. Trying to fix someone's pain by suggesting they do this or try this can one feel even more isolated and alone. Instead, allow them to vent, to feel, to be seen. Suggestions and advice can land as pressure to be okay and takes away someone's safe space.

Reminder: Take a break from your feelings.

You are not supposed to constantly feel and analyze your feelings, thoughts and emotions all the time as this can be counterproductive.

Here's what you can do instead.

1. Name it. Name the feeling and then frame it for what it is - temporary. Tell yourself, "This is a temporary emotions, not a permanent truth".

2. Contain it. Give yourself a time limit container: "I'll journal or sit with this for 15 minutes and then go do something productive/nourishing", or anything else that you've been putting off.

3. Do something neutral. If you cannot regulate yourself, don't go for joy. Go for Neutral. Wash dishes, fold laundry, sit in the sunlight. Humm while you do this as humming and thinking cannot occur at the same time as you might find yourself going over the same thoughts and feelings earlier experienced.

Letting your feelings take over will only lead to burnout.

Your love language isn’t just for your relationships with others—it’s a tool to nurture your relationship with yourself. Understanding how you naturally give and receive love can help you create a self-care routine that feels authentic and fulfilling.

If your love language is Words of Affirmation, try journaling positive self-talk or affirmations daily.

For Acts of Service, prioritize organizing your space or meal prepping for yourself.
If you value Receiving Gifts, treat yourself to meaningful tokens that inspire joy.

For Quality Time, set aside moments for mindfulness or activities you enjoy solo.

And if Physical Touch resonates with you, practice self-soothing through stretching, skincare, or massages.

Loving yourself in the language you best understand is a powerful step toward deeper self-awareness and inner peace. 🌿
