Chemotherapy is an essential part of cancer treatment. Its a long process that is emotionally draining and sometimes physically painful. Each chemo cycle brings a new side effect and coping up with each of these side effects is an uphill task. By God's grace my chemo was not physically painful and the chemo port made the journey peaceful. 2 of my drips were 23 hours long each. Thus for each chemo session I had to be admitted in the hospital for 2 nights, 3 days. I used to do positive affirmations, give reiki to myself and took Access Bar healing during these 6 months to keep myself motivated & positive. I am a great believer of alternative healing. Even when in the ICU, I used to affirm positive sentences in my mind. My art helped me a lot in diverting my mind and kept me sane. During my 2nd chemo session I doodled a rock & roll poster - I kept doodling while taking the drips at the hospital. My oncologist loved my art so much that he requested for a painting for the Day Care centre of Hiranandani Hospital, Powai, Mumbai. Most of his patients are in the day care centre. I was thrilled to get my art displayed there. I not only gave him the rock-&-roll poster but also another doodle that I had done before I was detected with cancer. I feel proud that people get joy & happiness through my art in an otherwise depressing place. As for me, art helped me turn a negative situation into a beautiful memory! Life becomes magical when we acknowledge the silver lining in the dark cloud. 😃
If you ever visit the Day Care Centre of Hiranandani Hospital, Powai, Mumbai, please look at my doodles kept behind the nurses's counter! 😉
