I can't talk about Yoga as a fitness expert because yoga for me is very personal. Hence today I am sharing what yoga means to me as a person.
For me yoga has always been a part of my upbringing. I remember imitating my grandparents during their yoga sessions when I was little. My nana has played a big role in my yoga journey. He introduced me to yoga and also made me realise it's vast nature. He always said , don't do yoga for flexibility or to show off or as a fitness trend , do it only when you feel that you are ready to connect with your soul. Of course it took me years to understand this.
Yoga isn't just about twisted asanas it is far bigger than what it seems to be. I understood this during my injury when I couldn't do any other exercise , or those tough asanas still I could do and did yoga.
Yoga is an emotion for me. It helps me connect with not just my body , soul and mind but also memories , family and sense of satisfaction and feeling of fulfillment.
It's the only thing in fitness routine which doesn't leave me exhausted , in pain or feeling unsatisfactory.
Yoga is uncompetitive in nature. It teaches me to reconnect with myself and to the world. It makes me calm and patient. Yoga feels like a gentle breeze which soothes you.
So this world yoga day I wish like me , yoga becomes an emotion in your lives too. And you do have many memories around it. And hope you live yoga not just do it.
