PHYSICAL BENEFITS:

1. Increases Flexibility and strenghthens lower body muscles.

2. This pose also opens the chest and shoulders, which can be beneficial if you have any stiffness

3. It is also a great side-body stretch involving external and internal oblique muscles ( muscles in our sides).

4. This stimulates abdominal organs including the liver, pancreas, and spleen, which helps improve their functioning.

5. The twisting action of this asana massages the abdomen and helps to reduce fats around the waist and hips.

6. This asana also improves digestion.

7. It is beneficial for women suffering from painful periods or cramps during menstruation.

MENTAL BENEFITS:

The benefit is that by enhancing your circulation and by deep breathing it improves your cognitive functioning. This calms your mind, reduces stress, and prevents age-related disorders such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer.
