PMS is not normal. Yes, you heard it right. Although, menstruation is a normal part of a woman's life, but when you go through such intense pain and cramping every month, you don't have to ignore considering it as a normal thing. It's your body's way of telling that something is off or out of balance that could be due to a hormonal imbalance, nutritional deficiency or any medical condition that needs to be taken in consideration. In fact, your monthly cycle should come and go with no to minimal disruption rather than affecting your everyday life.

Common symptoms associated with PMS include:

🔶Mood swings including irritability, anxiety or feeling depressed
🔶Migraines/ Headaches

Everyone experiences imbalanced hormone levels at some point in their lives, especially women. With age, environmental or biological factors, hormones get out of balance.

Here are few of my tips to support your hormones which i say, practicing self-care to feel your best:

🔸Give your start with a glass of warm water right after you wake up ⏰
To flush out toxins and for bowel movement stimulation.

🔸Poop everyday💩
So that, estrogen and other toxins can be eliminated through your body.

🔸Move your body🧘🏻‍♀️
Meditate, do yoga or journal for at least 20 mins a day. Any movement is better than none, right?

🔸Practice Mindful eating 🍽
Keep away chats or distractions like mobile phones etc. while eating. By eating your food, is simply means to enjoy your meals and chew your food thoroughly.

🔸Keep yourself hydrated💧
Water solves almost all problems be like your gut, skin; everything.

🔸Eat right 🥦
✅Try to consume a good diet including a wide range of fibre, proteins, probiotics.
❎Avoid caffeine intake and cut back on processed sugars and refined carbs.
❎Avoid skipping meals/don't overeat.

🔸Learn to change your relationship with stress 🙎🏻‍♀️
Learn to set boundaries to protect your peace or spend some time outdoors.

🔸Try to get enough sleep or rest 🛌
Prioritise your sleep; go to bed by 10 pm and ditch all the electronics. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night.

Women are often misled with tons of information when it comes to their menstrual cycles. Just because it seems normal to you does not mean it's healthy. Your menstrual cycle can say a lot about your health.
Regular menstruation simply implies that when your hormones are in balanced state, you feel great. Meaning, if your period comes too early or too late, it's certainly a sign of hormonal imbalance in your body.

❇️ Tip: Tracking your menstrual cycles each month can help you understand what's normal for you and what's not.
I personally would recommend you to keep tabs of your patterns & irregularities in your cycle by using a period-tracking app. Besides tracking, you can also monitor your energy levels, mood, appetite and so much more. How cool is that, right?

It is observed that there is a huge connection involved in between the female s*x hormones and the migraines. And, when these hormonal fluctuations occurs and especially estrogen withdrawal, are thought to trigger the attack.

Have you ever suffered from a severe pulsating or throbbing pain on one side of your head or ever need to pop a pill right away? You know how it can derail you day.

But, how do you know if you have a migraine?

🔸the pain may be throbbing, splitting or pulsating in nature.
🔸usually the pain is one-sided. But in some cases, it alternates sides.
🔸they are episodic in nature.
🔸they may even last for hours or some days.
🔸persistent nausea or vomiting.
🔸sensitivity to light, sound or smell increases.

It is important to note that there are many different types of headaches and are short-lived unlike migraines.
