A healthy beverage during monsoon season.."chukku kappi" ( dry ginger- holy basil coffee)
According to Ayurveda, Vata dosha aggravates and the pitta dosha accumulates during monsoon season , the increased humidity in nature weakens the digestive fire (agni), which causes an increased accumulation of toxins (ama) in the body which makes low immunity,weak body ,weak digestion and p**n to certain illnesses during the season.The humid weather during monsoon makes your entire digestive system sluggish.
Having warm soothing herbal beverages are great during this season that will normalises the digestive fire, helps to build immunity,helps to cleanse ur system and help ur body to heal and recover,also it feels good to sip one cup of hot herbal beverage on a rainy day that will keep u warm and refreshed as well.
CHUKKU KAPPI
Prepration method:
1 tsp Coffee Powder
2 tsp Dry Ginger Powder
1/2 tsp Coarsely Ground Pepper
3 Green Cardamom Pods
Crushed10-12 Tulsi or Indian Basil Leaves
coriander seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
2 Cups Water (~400 ml)
Palm Sugar or Palm Jaggery to Taste (Or regular jaggery
Bring the water to a boil.
Add all the other ingredients and simmer for 5 minutes.
Turn off the heat and let the Chukku Kaapi rest for 2-3 minutes. Except for the cardamom pods and tulsi, the rest of the ingredients will settle to the bottom.
Carefully strain the coffee into 4 cups.
Enjoy hot "Chukku Kaapi".

* Palm jaggery is rich in glucose, iron and calcium and it refreshes and gives relief to the respiratory tract.
*chukku kappi has an expectorant effect, aiding the secretion of sputum and treatment of cough.
