Here are 4 things I wish every beginner knew before starting yoga 👇

1️⃣ You can always modify a pose.
Every body is unique. Some days your hamstrings may feel tight, or your balance may be off — and that’s completely okay. The purpose of yoga isn’t to force your body into a shape but to move with awareness and steadiness. Use props, bend knees, or take a simpler version — what matters is your connection to breath and intention, not how “perfect” the pose looks.

2️⃣ You don’t need to be flexible to start yoga.
Flexibility is a result of yoga, not a requirement. Yoga meets you wherever you are — whether you can touch your toes or not. With consistent practice, your body naturally opens up, and more importantly, your mind becomes flexible too 💫.

3️⃣ Yoga is not just about poses.
The asanas you see on Instagram are just one small part of yoga. True yoga includes Pranayama (breathwork), Dhyana (meditation), and self-awareness. These are what help you build inner calm, focus, and balance — qualities that extend far beyond the mat.

4️⃣ Do not compare yourself with others.
In a yoga class, everyone is on their own journey. Comparison steals presence. Instead of looking around, focus on how your body feels and how you’re growing through your practice. Progress in yoga is not measured in how deep you can stretch, but in how peaceful and grounded you feel after your session 🌸.

🌙 Wishing everyone a profoundly blessed Maha Shivaratri! 🙏
Today, February 15, 2026, join me in chanting the divine “Yoga Yoga Yogeshwaraya” – a powerful salutation to Lord Shiva as Yogeshwara (Master of Yoga), who transcends the physical body, rules the five elements as Bhuteshwara, conquers time itself as Kaleshwara, embodies the all-pervading as Sarveshwara, and shines as the auspicious Shambho Mahadevaya. This chant ignites inner fire (tapas), boosts vitality, and aligns us with yoga’s true essence – perfect for awakening on this auspicious night! 🕉️🔥

What makes Maha Shivaratri truly special?
Known as the “Great Night of Shiva”, it marks the Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi (14th waning lunar day) in the Tamil month of Masi,, symbolizing the ultimate victory of light over darkness, consciousness over ignorance, and stillness over chaos.
Legend tells of Shiva drinking the cosmic poison (halahala) during the Samudra Manthan (ocean churning) to save creation, turning his throat blue (hence Neelkanth), and performing the cosmic Tandava dance that balances creation, preservation, and destruction. It also celebrates Shiva’s eternal union with Parvati – the masculine consciousness merging with feminine energy (Shakti) – reminding us of inner harmony and the path to moksha.

Women’s health thrives when we move with awareness and care 🌸
This practice focuses on asanas that nourish the female body, support hormonal balance, and promote pelvic and reproductive health.

🧘‍♀️ In this video, I’m guiding you through:
• Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) – strengthens the spine, tones the abdominal organs, and helps with menstrual discomfort.
• Dhanurasana (Bow Pose) – stimulates the reproductive organs and improves blood flow to the pelvic region.
• Upavistha Konasana (Wide-Angle Seated Forward Bend) – increases flexibility in the hips and inner thighs, calming the mind.
• Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose) – encourages hip opening and supports menstrual and postnatal health.
• Malasana (Garland Pose) – deepens hip mobility, helps regulate hormonal balance, and grounds energy through the pelvic floor.

Each of these asanas works gently yet powerfully to keep a woman’s body balanced, strong, and radiant — reminding us that caring for our health is an act of self-love. ✨

True yoga goes beyond the mat 🌿

It’s not just movement — it’s learning to rest deeply, eat cleanly, and think clearly. ✨

In Savasana, you teach your body and mind to truly let go — slowing the breath, calming the heart, and recharging your energy. A few still minutes can do wonders for your nervous system and peace of mind.

A yogic diet keeps you light and vibrant — filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and gentle dairy. These sattvic foods nourish both body and clarity, unlike processed or overly spicy foods that cloud the mind. 🍃

And through positive thinking & meditation, you create inner steadiness — training your thoughts toward calm, compassionate awareness. 🪷

Rest, nourish, and centre yourself — that’s the heart of yoga practice. 💛
Which one are you focusing on today — Rest, Nutrition, or Stillness?

Each asana we practice carries a silent wisdom — an invitation to balance strength with grace. “Sthiram Sukham Asanam” reminds us that real yoga begins the moment the posture feels both stable and pleasant. 🌸

The beauty of asana lies beyond the stretch — it’s in how every mindful movement nurtures your spine, massages your organs, and awakens your subtle energy.

As we slow down and move with awareness, we begin to listen — to the whispers of the body, to the rhythm of the breath, to the stillness within.

Then comes Pranayama — the art of guiding prana, our vital life energy. With each breath, we expand, we cleanse, we reconnect. We don’t just inhale air; we draw in vitality, balance, and life itself.
Yoga, in its essence, teaches us to live with awareness — to breathe with intention, to move with grace, and to rest in stillness. 🕊️

*Yoga isn’t about how far you can stretch — it’s about how deeply you can connect with yourself.*🌿

Yet, most people see Yoga only as postures and breathing exercises. In truth, a yogic life rests on _five powerful pillars_ that nurture body, mind, and spirit:

🧘‍♀️ Proper Exercise (Asana)– keeps the body strong, flexible, and steady

🌬️ Proper Breathing (Pranayama)– harmonizes energy and calms the mind

🌸 Proper Relaxation (Savasana)– releases tension and brings true rest

🥗 Proper Diet (Sattvic Food)– nourishes the body and uplifts the spirit

☀️ Positive Thinking & Meditation – cultivate peace, awareness, and inner joy

Yoga is a complete lifestyle — a way of living in balance, awareness, and harmony. Let’s rediscover the five pillars of Yoga beyond the mat. 💫
