“Stress is the body’s response to external pressure.
It usually goes away once the situation changes.
But long-term stress can damage sleep, mood, immunity, and relationships.
Recognise it early. Manage it wisely.”
“Anxiety is not stress.
It is a persistent, internal feeling of fear or apprehension—even when nothing is wrong.
It affects concentration, sleep, confidence, and day-to-day functioning.
If your worry doesn’t switch off, it’s time to seek help.”
“A psychiatrist helps identify the root cause behind stress, anxiety, irritability, and emotional overwhelm.
Scientific, effective, personalised care can transform your mental health.

If angry episodes are happening repeatedly, over minor triggers, or without a clear reason, it may indicate:

Emotional dysregulation

Underlying mood disorder

Impulse-control difficulties

Neurobiological imbalance
A psychiatrist can assess whether the anger has a psychological or medical basis.

"Before anger controls you… learn how to control your anger.
Small steps → big emotional freedom."
However..
"Anger doesn’t make you a bad person.
Not managing it can make life harder.
Try these practical tips to handle anger healthier."
So therefore
"If anger is affecting your sleep, work, or relationships — it’s time to understand it, not suppress it."

Anger is a fundamental human emotion that arises when an individual experiences frustration, threat, or perceived injustice.
Anger can closely linked with early developmental experiences of helplessness, deprivation, and blocked needs.
“Anger can be expressed, understood, and soothed"
Thus, anger is simultaneously a protest and a plea—a demand to be seen, respected, and protected.

Burnout vs Laziness

🌑 Burnout

Definition: Emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged stress or sustained effort.

You want to do the work, but your brain/body cannot.

Symptoms:

Constant tiredness

Feeling numb or empty

Irritability

Sleep problems

Reduced concentration

Loss of motivation after trying very hard

👉 Burnout = drained capacity
You are not avoiding the work, you are exhausted from doing too much for too long.

---

🟡 Laziness

Definition: Low willingness to act despite adequate ability.**

You can do the work, but you don’t feel like doing it.

Features:

No stress fatigue

No emotional exhaustion

Often prefers comfort, instant reward

Task avoidance because “boring / not interested”

Energy is preserved, not depleted

👉 Laziness = unwillingness
There is capacity, but no inner drive.

---

🔍 How to clinically differentiate

Ask these two questions:

1. “Was I once highly motivated?”

2. “Am I tired because I worked too much OR because I didn’t want to work?”

If motivation existed earlier & now you feel emotionally drained → burnout.
If motivation was absent → more aligned with procrastination/laziness.

---

🧠 Psychological Mechanisms

Burnout = Overload → Nervous system dysregulation → Shutdown

Laziness = Reward-seeking → Avoidance of discomfort → Minimal energy expenditure

---

🩺 When Burnout Becomes Dangerous

Seek help if:

Sleep changes

Hopelessness

Loss of appetite

Feeling detached from loved ones

Thoughts of quitting work, life, or self-harm

My speech on
SYMPOSIUM ON –ADOLESCENTS AND IMPULSIVITY: CLINICAL PERSPECTIVES, RISKS AND INTERVENTION

Adolescence is characterized by rapid neurobiological, psychological, and social transitions.
Impulsivity—defined as a predisposition toward rapid, unplanned reactions without considering negative consequences
It is heightened during this developmental period due to the imbalance between a still-maturing prefrontal cortex and a hyper-reactive limbic system.
Simultaneously, the digital landscape, including social media, online gaming, and AI-enabled platforms, has transformed channels of peer influence and behavioral expression.
This adds new layers of complexity to adolescent impulsivity, raising unique risks. While some degree of impulsivity is developmentally normative, it can also be a sign of evolving personality traits or excessive and maladaptive impulsivity can be associated with psychiatric disorders, high-risk behaviors, and long-term functional impairment.
Early recognition and intervention are essential to mitigate adverse outcomes. ‎

Let’s understand Adolescents together
And be their “pole to lean on”
