16 year old boy lost his life after falling from a two storey house in Uranhall Bijbehara Anantnag on Wednesday, in a tragic incident that left the area in shock.
The deceased has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Warak, son of Gulzar Ahmad Warak, a resident of Uranhall Bijbehara Anantnag. He suffered critical injuries after the fall.
He was first rushed to SDH Bijbehara for treatment and later referred to SKIMS Srinagar, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The heartbreaking incident has left the family, relatives, and the entire area in deep grief and sorrow. Police have taken cognisance of the matter and started investigation.

*Anantnag Police Apprehends Dr_/ug Pe_/ddler at Sangam; Over 1 Kg Contraband Substance Recovered*

Anantnag, 06 May 2026:
Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Anantnag Police achieved another significant success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering a substantial quantity of contraband substance from his possession.

Acting proactively during naka checking and surveillance in the jurisdiction of Police Post Sangam, a police team intercepted and apprehended one drug peddler identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat S/O Abdul Samad Bhat R/O Melhora Wandana. During his search, police recovered 1 kilogram and 90 grams of charas-like powder substance from his possession.

In this connection, FIR No. 119/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered and investigation has been set into motion to ascertain forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network.

Anantnag Police remains steadfast in its commitment to dismantling the drug ecosystem and appeals to the public to continue supporting the fight against drugs by sharing any credible information with the police.

*Anantnag Police Seals Three Medical Stores in Aishmuqam Over Record Discrepancies*

Anantnag, 05 May 2026:
In continuation of the ongoing drive against the illegal sale, misuse, and diversion of medicines, Anantnag Police, in coordination with the concerned officials of the Drug Control Department, conducted an inspection of medical establishments in the jurisdiction of Police Station Aishmuqam.
During the inspection, discrepancies and irregularities were detected in the maintenance of mandatory records and stock registers of the following medical stores operating at Arigohal:

▪︎ Ibaad Medicate Chemists and Druggists, Arigohal

▪︎Bilal Raina Medicate, Arigohal

▪︎Ganie Medical Store, Arigohal

In view of the violations noticed during inspection, all the above-mentioned medical stores were sealed on the spot by the competent authorities as per the provisions of law, pending further inquiry and legal proceedings.

Anantnag Police, in close
coordination with line departments, continues to keep strict vigil against unlawful sale, stocking, or misuse of pharmaceutical and controlled substances, and reiterates its commitment towards safeguarding public health and curbing substance abuse.
