This picture has set a bar for me, my dad hiking and maintaining the pace with me and my friends on one of our weekend hikes. I really hope to be in such great shape when I am his age and to be capable enough to hike with my son when he's 32 and I am 65. My dad doesn't workout at the gym but I have always seen him remain active. He plays Golf 6 days a week, goes swimming during the summers, keeps himself involved with gardening and other physical work, eats sufficient protein and lots of fruits and veggies, drinks more than a gallon of water and most importantly knows how to manage stress. Their generation was built differently and ours is different and our children will be different, that's the law of nature, everything changes, nothing remains the same. With the advances in technology, things have become way too easy and convenient for us. We don't get sufficient movement, sunlight, water, nutrients etc as a result we suffer mentally and physically!
Anyways getting back to our topic of Longevity, our bodies are like efficient machines in our teens and our twenties but when the machine is put under a lot of work without sufficient maintenance it starts to show signs of wear and tear. On top of that add years of sedentary lifestyle, eating junk, smoking, drinking and now you have the modern 25 year old who wants to reverse it all in 12 weeks because he saw someone do it on IG!!
I keep meeting new clients on a regular basis and most of them keep telling me how fit they were in their college days or before they got married or before they had a family or before some life event and I see the longing they have to get back to their previous weight or shape. Unfortunately 80% of them never put in enough effort or get so caught up that they just keep wishing without putting in the actual work but the 20% do the necessary work required and attain their goals and some even go further ahead than the bar they had set for themselves. Fitness is not complicated, it's simple things done repeatedly over and again.
