Periyar College of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Girls, named after the great social reformer THANTHAI PERIYAR made its inception on 17th April 1982 at Tiruchirapalli by the Periyar Maniammai Educational and Charitable Society, Chennai. After THANTHAI PERIYAR and ANNAI MANIAMMAIYAR, their illustrious successor Thiru K.VEERAMANI M.A.,B.L has taken up the Herculean task of ushering young women into Pharmacy education and to a new era of scientific temperament by leading this institution exclusively for women in the whole World Periyar College of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Girls is accredited by National Board of Accreditation and also recognized by the Directorate of Medical Education, Chennai. It conducts courses in the field of pharmacy at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The college also offers certificate and diploma level programmes in the field of laboratory technician and medical laboratory. Periyar College of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Girls provides ample basic amenities for the smooth conduct of its courses. The college had a humble beginning with minimum students in Degree in Pharmacy. The Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) was started in 1986 and the Post Graduate Degree in Pharmacy (M.Pharm) in 1993. At present there are more than 400 students studying in various courses of this college. The Institution offers Diploma, Degree, Post graduate courses in Pharmacy and Doctoral Programme in Pharmaceutics it also offers One-year certificate course in Medical Laboratory Technology Periyar College of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Girls has a legitimate pride, not just in turning out graduates but in having created over 2300 Paramedical professional women in Tamilnadu, with D.Pharm, B.Pharm and M.Pharm certificates and degrees respectively. Having been an exclusive Pharmacy College for women in the South a high measure of self-dependence is imparted to those who leave the Institution. The Founders Vision of creatively educating, improving and exalting into a career professional is being achieved for the past two decades. The Institution Accreditation by National Board of Accreditation; elevate the institution to a position of being the first women Pharmacy College in the South. Similarly the institution got ISO 9001: 2000 certification. The college is a institutional member in professional bodies like ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education), IPA, IHPA and APTI. The college had entered in MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with several Institutions, Industries and also Research Institute to strengthen its tie up with them. These enable our students to have practical exposure in the fields related to them.
